  1. You love those catching prospects, eh? Later
  2. Here's a scouting report from a guy who used to be commissioner of a German Baseball League, who I "know" from another board: ]Ive watched Gronauer over here in Germany multiple times. He is a good defensive catcher and a legit bat. While the level of the German league is worse than some College Leagues and certainly below Rookie Ball, he was among the league leaders in just about every offensive category and - for example - had a 20-3 BB-K ratio in 105 PA in 2007. Id compare him to Justin Huber with better defensive skills. Thats pretty much the upside here. Later
  3. He would have taken the job if the Mets had moved the team to Rochester - the home of Kodak. Later
  4. Benjamin Grimm wrote: ="MBTN.net"]I'll address how to integrate this event into the database when I've had some time to think about it. Yes, but I was asking the CPF-ers to tell how they feel about this, and maybe even offer suggestions about how it should be handled. Later
  5. ]Should all the Mets players on the roster last night be added to #42 on the Mets By The Numbers site? And, should they be there with an asterisk? (and explanation) Later

Shouldn't all the Mets players on the roster last night be added to #42 on the Mets By The Numbers site? And, should they be there with an asterisk? (and explanation) Later

  9. Kidnapper: http://cranepoolforum.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=4741 Hands off him or I'll call the cops. Later
  10. Francis Marion University is in Florence, S.C. Up to now, the most famous thing from that area (Georgetown, S.C.) was the rice museum. Yes, they actually have a museum dedicated to showing visitors everything they ever wanted to know, and more, about rice. I hope this kid becomes the most famous thing from there in the future. Good luck with your adoptee. Later
  11. I'm hoping he's just AAA backfill for Figueroa and that Figgy does well in his starts with the big club. Later
  12. Church 2 Delgado 1.5 Beltran 1.5 Pagan 1.5 Later
  13. Update time, and a few questions. What's up with Bostick? Is he injured? This Spring every Mets prospect and suspect was put under a microscope when it came time for appearances and roster cuts. But I don't recall seeing Bostick's name. The guy has been on the 40 man roster for quite a while, but seems be wearing a cloak of invisibility. What's his story? And, anyone betting a few months ago that Cassanove would make the 25 man roster could have made a lot of money, eh? Later
  14. I gave Figueroa his 1/4 point for being called up in the morning, then showing up to pitch effectively in the game. Later
  15. Perez 3.75 Wright 3 Beltran 1.5 Church 1.5 Figueroa .25 Later
  16. Re: 1970: Scheinblum must have had a terrible moustache if people didn't even know if he had one. Later
  17. KC completes the shutout over the Tigers. Edgar Renteria ended up with all three of the Detroit hits. Bannister went the first seven innings. Later

  19. At least the Pirates were honest about it when they shortened the left field dimensions at Forbes Field by 30 feet. They installed a low wire fence in front of the bullpens in left field and named it "Greenberg Gardens" for newly-acquired Hank Greenberg. The name was later changed to honor another slugger. It was "Kiner's Corner". Later
  20. AG/DC wrote: Any list that suggests I'm living someplace foreign from the 50 states is silly. Maybe the list was written by someone who has been watching the Congressional doings on C-SPAN. Later
  21. soupcan wrote: I'm pretty sure that the playing field is the same - or at least still in the same spot Soupy, that's basically true. The location is the same. But it has been changed. IIRC the field itself was changed in elevation by 10-15 feet. I don't recall which, but raising it to install better drainage seems to be logical. And, of course, the outfield dimensions were changed to be longer down the immediate foul lines and in right field and shorter in left and center. Later

    Larry Bowa

Bowa may fit your description of worst Met. But the worst Met "regular" I ever saw was infielder Al Moran. He's the only Met player who literally had me screaming at the TV set. Later
  23. Santana - 4.5 Wright - 2.5 Beltran - 1 Reyes - 1 Heilman - 1 Later
  24. Frayed Knot wrote: I heard that Wally Moon - the former Dodger OFer who turns 78 this week - was going to be taking batting practice before the game but I don't know if that came off. Moon was the lefty-swinger who learned to slice cheap fly balls over the netting to the point where 38 of his 50 HRs over a 3-year span were hit during home games. The reporters quickly named them "Moon Shots". (true) Later
  25. If they really want to clean up the trash in the City they should ask Wallace Matthews (and Bill Madden) to leave. Later
