  3. Since there was no "Let's see who the PTBNL is" choice, I treaded water with an "indifferent" vote. But if he performs as well as we hope, I guess that's won't be a major issue. Later
  4. I think we may have a winnahhh. http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/minor-league-team-to-wear-jabba-the-hutt-jerseys/ar-AAaeRo3?ocid=DELLDHP Later
  5. I remember he made several highlight reel catches. Nothing specific, though. Later
  6. Matt is a veteran? Apparently somebody in Florida thinks so. http://www.csnwashington.com/baseball-washington-nationals/talk/nats-trade-lefty-reliever-mets-veteran-outfielder-new-york-mets-jerry-blevins-matt-den-dekker?p=ya5nbcs&ocid=yahoo Later
  7. No mercy rule? I guess they think taking a whuppin' like that builds character. Later
  8. That hat reminds me of the character Rick Moranis played in Spaceballs. But if he can get guys out, nobody will care if his hat makes him look like a doofus. Later
  9. 88-74 Second Make the playoffs. Win it all. Later
  10. Of all the single letter logos, the Detroit "D" is the classiest. Later
  11. Also, please pin this thread to the top of the page so we (who will wait until the last moment) don't lose it. Later
  12. Legares is trying to show Terry that he never wants to bat lower in the order than Bartolo Colon. Later
  13. I voted Cuddyer. Maybe wishful thinking. But I also think the other two will have good years. Later
  14. Outfielder Ced Landrum never hit a home run in over 100 major league at bats. Tell us something about Steve Dillon. Later
  15. Not this year, maybe 2016, after he wows 'em at Binghamton this year. Later
  16. Buh BYE! See you next year. Rehab well. Later
  17. Minnie Minoso was old enough (IIRC he made his comeback with KC), but I don't think his Chisox ever played in Brooklyn. Hawk Taylor. Later
  18. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Can this be right? Kristie Ackert in the Daily News this morning says that Bobby Parnell pitched in a minor league intrasquad game yesterday. He threw 20 pitches and gave up 11 hits. That doesn't sound so good! Or very good for the hitters in the minor league system. Later
  19. When Phil Rizzuto was asked to name the best shortstop he ever saw, he answered "Willie Miranda". (He hadn't seen Ozzie Smith yet) "Good field, no hit" was the description of many shortstops back then, and Willie was a prime example. So is Wilfredo today. And that lack of hitting will keep him in the minors this year. Later
  20. Thanks Edgy. Later
  21. He'll again be the glue that holds the staff together, performing in the middle, setup and (occasionally) closer roles and giving them a spot start if needed. When TC asks "Whose arm is ready?" Carlos will raise his. And do a good job in any role Terry gives him. 90-115 IP, 3.25 ERA, 1.22 WHIP Later
  22. Lefty Specialist wrote: The one I don't get is Old Dominion Freight Lines. I mean, who goes to a Mets game and has an epiphany about their trucking needs by looking at the Citi scoreboard? Maybe they'll start a "mother trucker" chant when an opponent his a home run. Later
  23. Edgy MD wrote: It's been discussed before, but they weren't the next-to-last team to integrate. The Tigers were. Just curious, who was the Tiger and how much sooner was he added than Elston Howard? Whether they were last, next to last or somewhat earlier, they were still too late for me. Later
