  1. Banning peanuts and Cracker Jack? I bet they like the DH, too, those un-American fuckers. Later
  2. Ceetar wrote: it's the other way around. they report tickets sold. Then it was weirder than I thought. Later
  3. Ceetar wrote: It was weird seeing, Attendance: 0 in the box score. Later Which is BS isn't it? There were tickets sold to that game. Or did they give a full refund to everyone and not just a 'come to another game'? I think both major leagues now have to report through the turnstiles count rather than tickets sold. As of a few years ago, each league did it differently. Later
  4. Edgy MD wrote: Well, they knew he had it in him. They just couldn't give him any more time to find it. If he was going to be that productive, maybe they should have tried vivisection. Later

  6. Couldn't read the fine print. Did he mention Bernie Madoff? Or is Megdal still ahead in the race to have us rip his BBWAA card from his cold dead fingers? Later
  7. The Leather Rocket. Can't wait to see him. Later
  8. If the rosters stay at 25, why would the elimination of that rule eliminate jobs? Those hitters would be replaced by other players. So why would the union object? Because they're the highly paid "stars"? Tough. Get rid of it - everywhere. Let's go back to baseball the way it ought to be. Later
  9. Frayed Knot wrote: Dear Frayed, Fuck You. Sincerely, Danny He did that very politely. LOL! Later
  10. Frayed Knot wrote: TransMonk wrote: HBO has been airing a two-part Sinatra doc lately. There is a shot of Mookie during the '86 victory parade in the middle of a "New York, New York" montage near the end of the film. Of course, there is also a shot of Jeter celebrating one of the Yanqui shampionships a few shots later. Right, because Sinatra dying just two years into Jeter's career meant they had so much in common. If we revise history enough maybe in a few years it'll start to become accepted fact that Frank sung that song in honor of Jeter. I just threw up in my mouth. Later
  11. I was working in my garage yesterday. Didn't realize I had left the TV on. When I came in from the garage, the movie Eraser was on. And I heard a character say, "I got a pizza for Blevins on 14." Not really about the pitcher now on the DL, but his name will be heard whenever this film is shown. Later
  12. metirish wrote: Oh this was fun, the MFY then tweeted the final score to @mets I'm surprised an MFY fan can count that high. That's why they gave Jeter #2. Later
  13. Edgy MD wrote: They had been down to four infielders since the Muno and Reynolds promotions, with Alex Castellanos serving as a fifth. Wait! What? Reynolds promotion? Was there some stealth announcement yesterday? Please don't toy with my emotions Later
  14. We've talked about Daniel Murphy not exactly being a Gold Glover in the past. But I don't recall him being (searching for the proper term ... oh, I know) baseball stoopid. Has he always been, or is this trait emerging recently? Oh, and don't forget this other infield option: http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fantasybaseball/update/25163645/mets-shortstop-juan-lagares-post-4-for-4-day-in-win-saturday?FTAG=YHF8a562c3 Shortstop? 16. Lefty Specialist wrote: I have no idea if there will be a collapse this time around, but if there is, I'll kind of look forward to it. Nice to know that he enjoys the suffering of others. And deep inside, I think a lot of Mets fans will, too. This is the dead giveaway. This is the Yankee-fan version of how they think Met fans think. "They don't root for the Yankees, so they must secretly enjoy losing." There's a technical term for that. I believe its called YLDB. Later
  17. From last night's Las Vegas game, a promising peek into the future: Reynolds 2/4 HR 3RBI BB K Herrera 2/6 2B 2RBI Matz 7IP 2H 0ER 1BB 8K (had no hitter broken up in 7th, also had 2 hits) Leathersich 1IP 0H 0ER 0BB 2K Later
  18. Gaylord Perry? I figure to do that after 40, it requires some unusual stuff - Petroleum jelly, 'riods, or in Bartolo's case, cholesterol. Later
  19. Gwreck wrote: Apologies to FMan, but I think this goes too far. There are so many things to make fun of the Yankees for that it seems unfortunate this is where we went. Reading this just makes me uncomfortable. I think a line has been crossed. You liked it better when he did it with pictures? Later
  20. My kid's off to a so-so start at Savannah. http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=milb&player_id=610141#/career/R/hitting/2015/ALL From today's minor league report in SBNation: Okay, it's thirteen games, but the power is there, the Ks haven't been egregious, and the tools are loud. So far so good in the jump to full-season ball. Beard needs work though. Later
  21. Oscar Gamble in a leg lock may be one of the all-time classic CPF lines. You are my hero. Later
  22. I think a good symbol for the Mets so far this year is Angel Torres' hat. The other team is laughing. Then reality sets in and they realize they just lost. Later
  23. Didn't say it would happen again, or that its illustrative of anything. But like Merkle's boner, Ruth's called shot and Mickey Owen dropping the third strike, it is part of baseball lore that is still remembered. Later
  24. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I hope he doesn't have to miss the rest of the season for Barry Foote surgery. I shudder when I hear of pitchers with foot problems. IIRC, Dizzy Dean altered his throwing motion to relieve pain on a broken foot (toe?) and permanently injured his arm. Later
  25. Edgy MD wrote: I'm going to guess he'll be 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA through his first three starts. I'll take Peeking at the Stats for $100, Alex. Later
