  1. Thompson was a 4th round draft pick from the U of Miami. He had 4 hits, including a double and a dinger, and 4 more RBI tonight. Later
  2. They won tonight. They're still assholes. Later
  3. Oh NOOOOOOOOOOOO. You're not moving the team to Los Angeles, are you? I've lived through that before, in 1958, and don't know if I could ever go through it ....., er, ... never mind. Later
  4. Do you get to see what's in a Turkish prison? I've been wanting to know since "Airplane". Later
  5. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: 6 in a row now. New No. 3 hitter Arod going in for a hammy MRI. Too bad. I don't want them to have any excuses. I want them to lose with a healthy A-Rod in the lineup. Later
  6. Bucerra got two hits tonight and is now hitting .400. He had missed a few games, then when he returned to the lineup he was the DH. But he started in RF tonight. Later
  7. One hit, and they struck out (only) four times. Doesn't seem like they were overpowered. Who is he, the second coming of Greg Maddux (shudder)? I didn't see the game. What was this guy throwing? Later
  8. Frayed Knot wrote: The Yanx will NEVER suffer in silence as long as I'm around. This. And a hearty AMEN! And any verbal shot at Jeter is a good one, too. Later
  9. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Do yourself a favor and watch the Talladega highlights. two upside down wrecks, massive final lap wreck with cars crossing the finish line backwards Did Terry pick that lineup too? Later
  10. Elster88 wrote: Terry makes questionable decisions. During yesterday's post game interview, Terry said he'd be looking for" spots to give Conforto a rest". Memo to Terry: The kid is en fuego. He has hit .407 (according to SNY) since he has been inserted into the third spot in the lineup. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Later
  11. Only an act of (Mother) Nature can slow down the Mets juggernaut. Later
  12. Big innings must be catching. Las Vegas put up a seven spot in the second inning of last night's victory, making a winner of starter Rafael Montero. This is fun. Later
  13. Neil nails another one. I like posting that every night. Later
  14. My like is turning to love. Not enough to be picking out curtains yet. But getting there. Later
  15. Y-no-a starts with the major league club this year. Maybe a few innings in relief. They'll leave him at Las Vegas to help them win the AAA World Series. He will. Then, they'll bring him up so he can do the same for the big club. He will. Later
  16. (Channeling John Sterling) "Neil nails another". Daniel who? Later
  17. And Chris Heisey (yes, THAT Chris Heisey) homers in the bottom of the 16th to make a winner out of Ollie F'n Perez. Later
  18. He can't play all his games in Philly. .274 - 14- 47. Later
  19. 7-2 as a late season addition to the staff. The fastball won't be fully restored to its pre-surgical velocity, but he'll have a decent post-op ERA of 3.65 with 7.6 K/IP. Later
  20. I'm thinking he will save one or two games in the big leagues this year in 14 games Sometimes, good things happen to those who wait. Later
  21. His year end numbers will look like the others on the back of his baseball card, maybe with a slight park or divisional adjustment. .280-17-78. Later
  22. Spot start until the regulars return, then middle-man work. Effective. 7-2 2.98 He's like those guys who Jim Brosnan wrote about in The Long Season who were always ready when the manager asked "Who in Hell wants to pitch?" Later
  23. Any bonus will have to be paid forward. I don't see him spending any major league time with the Mets this year. Later
  24. I'm having a Terry Leach flashback. The middle inning pitcher gets a spot start when the regulars can't. Pitches extremely well and then will be sent back to the bullpen when the regular starter(s) return. The only difference is Logan is younger then Terry was. So he may be auditioning for a job elsewhere. And I hope he stays. Someone will have to fill that swing-man role when Bartolo leaves. Later
  25. I remember the old option rules, when you could keep a player in the organization for four years before they had to be added to the 40 man roster. Then, teams would take full advantage of the three full option years to make sure the player had enough experience to be brought up to the 25 man roster(other than for September call-ups). This meant that many players didn't "make it" until they were 24-26 years old. So I hope Travis will not be denied a shot because of his age. I think he will be brought up this year. He's the only right handed hitting outfielder above AA who has 25 home run power and you always need some of those guys. 22 games, .278- 4- 14. Later
