  1. His primary weapons when he was having success in the minors were his control and command. If he can recapture them, he will be starting for someone in the majors by September (when Wheeler returns, he will be prime trade bait). He doesn't have the lights out stuff of the other Mets starters (his fastball topped out in the low 90s last time I read about it). Actually, he had Bobby Jones type stuff. It was good 15 years ago, but the bar has been raised. So, it he doesn't recapture his prime weapons, I don't see him other than a middle inning pitcher. Tough call now. I'll go for the middle - 15 Games, 55 IP, 1.38 WHIP, 4.39 ERA. Later
  2. Homey gets called up in September ( and hopefully not earlier due to an injury on the catching corps). Hits some dingers, not a high batting average. But one of them is a game winner in the late season series against the Nats. Later
  3. 14-8 2.90 1.20 WHIP. Lots of no decisions that keep him from being an All -Star. Leads the Mets pitchers in base hits. Later
  4. Got it. Thanks. Now its clever. Later
  5. Geology majoe? If he makes the big club, I promise to call him Rocky. But I don't think I'll have to this year. Later
  6. He'll get substantial playing time as late inning defensive replacement and starter when Granderson rests. He'll hit enough to get the attention of the year end award voters and will retake the Gold Glove. Later
  7. C: Salvador Perez (2015 stats: 553 PA, .260/.280/.426, 52 R, 21 HR, 70 RBI) Good defender with a good smile, Benito-Santiago-y plate thing, and a good-value contract (just having re-upped for 5 years/$52M) at a tough position. None of which will help him gain entry into a Jewish cemetery, when all's said and done. Huh? Don't let the name fool you. Pitcher Jose Bautista was Jewish. You never know. Later
  8. He will be the kind of player a Wally Backman can appreciate. That's good for TY, because he will be playing for Wally this year. If Wally gets promoted, he will wish Ty a fond good-bye and leave him in the minors. He won't appreciate him THAT much. Later
  9. Wows 'em at AAA. Gets some spot call-ups during the year when an infielder briefly goes on the DL. Comes up for good in September and starts his 10-15 year All-Star tenure with the Mets. He will be the Robby Alomar we always wanted. Later
  10. And a great tradition it is. Thanks, Later
  11. Keeps on getting on at Las Vegas and maybe earns a cuppa' joe in September. But I wouldn't count on it. But if he does make it, I'd sure like to see his wife - that kid's kinda' cute. Later
  12. Not exactly a voluntary retirement, but this ex-Met won't be playing for the next 60 days. https://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/taylor-teagarden-suspended-80-games-after-appearing-in-ped-report-222614013.html Later
  13. Showing his appreciation to the Mets for moving him to leagues with hitters' ballparks, he will start to turn his reported 5 tools into production. A combined .294/ .335/ .485 at Binghamton and similar numbers (maybe higher BA and SLG) when promoted to Las Vegas mid year. My kid's on his way to the bigs, but probably not this year. Later
  14. Lefty Specialist wrote: I think he'll be the 8th inning guy by the end of the season if his arm holds up. I agree. To earn that role, he will pitch to a 1.18 WHIP with 9.1 K/IP in his middle inning "auditions" in the early part of the season. And he'll keep that up as the 8th inning guy. Looking at 38 holds in total. Later
  15. If I could predict the future, I would be in Las Vegas winning millions. But, if I must: Terry Collins will get fed up with David Wright missing games, Harvey not being able to piss right, and Cespedes not hustling. He will snap, punch out a snarky writer (the crystal ball is unclear - most likely one from the Post) and retire. Wally Backman will replace him as manager. The Mets finish second, make the wild card, get to the World Series, and beat Houston in the World Series, one game going 16 innings. The rest is mere details. Later
  16. The re-emergence of Legares this spring, Terry moving Cespedes to a corner spot and (I'm predicting) Conforto proving he can play every day make me think Granderson will have fewer games started. The .250 / .345/ .455 slashes will look decent (and might even improve with more rest). And, since the lineup is now deeper, he may actually get more RBI opportunities from the leadoff spot in the order. Later
  17. 17-7, 2.77 ERA, 1.19 WHIP. And enough time on the DL (nothing serious) to keep him from the Cy Young Award. Later
  18. Probably a late season call-up and will pitch few innings to a 3.85 ERA. But, every time I see his name in print, I get a chuckle thinking about how Ralph Kiner would have tried to pronounce his name. I miss Ralph. Later
  19. Spring Training has always been for "working on things". Well, there's this "thing" that has been a thorn in the side of the Mets for many years. Why haven't they worked on something to get out Jayson Fucking Worth? Even in games that don't count in the standings, he's still a pain in the rosy red rectum. I can't wait for him to retire. Later
  20. Switch hitting catcher/ designated hitter/ third baseman. BA in the minors around .285 with little power. Throw-em-out percent in the minors 26%. I don't think he plays in the majors this year, but is a versatile candidate for Las Vegas. It will be his first stop at AAA. Later
  21. Since they have publically announced what they are going to do, the Met hitters can dig in with confidence. Any pitch coming close to one of them will get the Royals hurler ejected (if the umps have the backing of the commissioner and the stones to do it). Later
  22. My cousin had blood in his urine when he went for his draft physical. The condition cleared up within a few weeks and has never recurred. But he was declared 4F (unfit for military service) and was exempt from the draft. He's now over 70. Wishing Harvey a similar happy recovery. Later
  23. 1. Reach base safely Granderson 2. Get a hit Cespedes 3. Draw a walk Granderson 4. Hit a double Walker 5. Hit a triple DeAza 6. Hit a home run D'Arnaud 7. Steal second base Legares 8. Reach by error Duda 9. Hit a grounds-rule double Duda 10. Score a run Granderson 11. Drive in a run Conforto 12. Get hit by a pitch Wright 13. Drive in more than one run in a single plate appearance Conforto 14. Hit into a double play Wright 15. Get caught stealing OR picked off base Conforto 16. Strike out as a batter Wright 17. Bunt for a base hit Legares 18. Get tagged out at home Duda 19. Pinch hit Flores 20. Be pinch-hit for Syndergaard 21. Commit an error Cabrera 22. Play a batted ball by an opponent in fair territory D'Arnaud 23. Be called on to relieve Blevens 24. Strike out 6 or more batters in the same game Syndergaard 25. Hit an opposing batter with a pitch Robles 26. Blow a save opportunity Blevens 27. Get credited with a hold Robles 28. Strike out the side Familia 29. Get a save Familia 30. Pitcher to get a base hit DeGrom Bonus tiebreaker: Name the date when Terry Collins gets ejected for the first time, closest to actual date wins 5/15

  25. 35 games in middle innings. 1.41 WHIP. Maybe a hold or three. Later
