  1. Its now 8-3. This game is going to last longer than a hockey post-game show (on radio). Later
  2. There's a Washington filibuster joke in there somewhere, except its not funny. Later
  3. It used to be a rule that if you played in the majors (no matter how briefly), you couldn't play in the Arizona Fall League. Will this prevent Gavin from going there, or has the rule been changed? Later
  4. Frayed Knot wrote: Game 2 - [crossout]rained[/crossout] Matthew'd out in Washington. Rescheduled for 1 PM Sunday Don Shula would have left the field uncovered. Later
  5. When this goes back to LA, I'll again be rooting for the proverbial meteor. BTW, I was wondering, how is it that meteors always land in a crater? Later
  6. Roger McDowell let go as Braves' pitching coach: http://mlb.nbcsports.com/2016/10/07/braves-let-pitching-coach-roger-mcdowell-go-this-could-mean-something/?ocid=Yahoo&partner=ya5nbcs&yptr=yahoo Later
  7. In this baseball piece for The New Yorker, Roger Angell writes about New York's Tatterdemalions without also bringing up his idea that this upcoming Presidential election is the most important of his 96 year life and that he intends to vote for Hillary. Here's the link: http://www.newyorker.com/news/sporting-scene/good-night-mets-roger-angell Anybody here feel compelled to explain to MSF62 what the rules are for posting a link like the one I just did is free to do just that. I posted this quote from Ben Grimm in the other post where you attacked me. Maybe if you see it again you'll understand it. There is no admonishment against linking. Let's nip this misconception in the bud right now. This came about because of an overly sensitive and hyperbolic reaction to this statement by Namor: If you are sharing the link and not bashing the author in your post, then i don't think anyone needs to click on it to know he is voting for Clinton He was simply saying that he was able to predict the tone of the article based on the context in which it was posted. 8. Mets Guy in Michigan wrote: Edgy MD wrote: Klap has never struck me as a straight shooter. He's a serial Mets basher. I should have said "consider the source" in the post. I always refer to his writing as "Klap-trap", and he never fails to give me reason to do it. Later
  9. About that called last strike- Red Sox fans have developed whining to a new art form. The sportscasters for the Connecticut TV stations (I think they only hire Sox fans) were a show unto themselves last night and this morning. Later
  10. They'll have the money if he wants to renegotiate after opting out. There will be an extra $10 million available for raises and re-signings because I don't think they'll bring Walker back. Later
  11. And the day after, I just feel numb. Later
  12. My friends in Canada are already stocked up on Labatt's. And there may even be some left for when the game starts. Go Jays. Later
  13. Fman99 wrote: Wow I hate the Giants, Nats, and Dodgers all so much, I'd be hard pressed to root for any of those teams. Same here. Go Cubs! Later
  14. Mets Guy in Michigan wrote: People I would rather have seen hitting instead of Campbell: Duda, Conforto, d'Arnoud, Gsellman..... ... and the guy flipping burgers at the Shake Shack. Wait 'till Next year. On to the next exciting part of the year - trading and free agent signings. Later
  15. Ceetar wrote: Shit's about to get real, kids. I hope Syndergaard isn't anywhere near as nervous as I am. no reason to be nervous when you're prepared. Exactly - The 6 Ps I learned in the Army: Prior Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance. Later
  16. What would Salas' innings have been if extrapolated over a full season with the Mets? I think he was here one month. 17 X 6 is 102. Would Terry have used him that much? Whose innings would he have replaced? Later
  17. Joey Belle had a brief 12 year career, fewer than most of nominees, but a six or seven year stretch in the middle of it ranks with some of the best years of some other HOF-ers. He was disliked by the media (especially the writers who vote for the Hall nominees). Maybe this is a second, less emotional, chance for him. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/belleal01.shtml Later
  18. I voted Loney. He's been hitting well lately (well, he's been hitting) and his fielding might make a difference if the game is close. Later
  19. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Was Hunter Pence bitten by a werewolf recently? He looks like he was. But I don't think it was recently. If he is going to get into the team picture, he'll have to ask the barber for a trim around the ankles. Later
  20. Guys, don't let Angel Pagan beat you. And try to get their pitcher upset and mentally off his game. Maybe something like the first three guys in the lineup should try to bunt for base hits - something to set off his volatile temper. Later
  21. John Kruk "is leaving" ESPN. https://www.yahoo.com/tv/mlb-analyst-john-kruk-exits-espn-015031443.html Later
  22. I briefly spoke to Gumbel's brother, Greg (also a sportscaster)many years ago. He told me that they rooted for the Cleveland Indians. You really have to love baseball to do that. Later
  23. Even if the robot were to have a short circuit, it would still be a better ump than Angel Hernandez. Later
  24. I voted only for John Schuerholz. He built a dynasty through smart moves (and wasn't a dick about it like Boss George). Later
  25. Frayed Knot wrote: .- Oh, and Barry Bonds is out as Marlins hitting coach. there were always rumors of 'diminishing commitment' Y'mean the 'roid rage is finally wearing off? Later
