  2. A Boy Named Seo wrote: Or maybe he tears his UCL and has to get Tommy John surgery... So sad. Come back home, kid. Mom's chicken soup will heal 'ya. Later
  3. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: Little depresses me more than the thought of starting Adrian Gonzalez's corpse at first. Necromancy aside, it looks like Gonzalez will be the first baseman. Later
  4. My kid will finally put it together and win the Schaefer Award this year. He will be the Terry Leach of the 2018 Mets, dazzling us when nobody expected it. Later
  5. 1) Can't wait 2) I'm looking at a 100-1 payoff when Montero wins the award. Later
  6. Alex Cobb to the O's - 4 year deal. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/orioles/blog/bs-sp-orioles-cobb-0320-story.html Later
  7. Anthony Recker! Go on down. https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/diamondbacks-anthony-recker-reassigned-to-minors-camp/ Later
  8. Vic Sage wrote: A-Gon gets his first HR (and his first RBI and RS) of the spring, after 44 ABs. I guess that solves our 1B problem! What was the S/M reading on that? 4-2 Cards. Mr. Sewald, please report to the manager's room to pick up your ticket to the minor league camp. Later
  9. Brought up in June. Key member of the bullpen by September. Later
  10. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Vargas' salary wouldn't pay for even one Arrieta. Arrieta is making $25 million this year from the Phillies. Don't stop him, he's on a roll. Later
  11. Edgy MD wrote: Winning run on first and tying run on third if you're a bird. The bird is the word. And the word is BOOKS! Later
  12. Frayed Knot wrote: All OD games to be played on Thursday, March 29 Marlins to get the honor (if there is such a thing anymore) of hosting the first game of the year because, y’know, Jeter. Just when I thought it was safe to open a thread. Feh! Later
  13. Nimmo singles home two - its 9-6 good guys. Later
  14. batmagadanleadoff wrote: Daniel Murphy and Bob Gallagher go back to back yard. Kevin Collins grounds into an inning ending double play -- O'Brien to Ryan to Goldberg. Goldberg? Wasn't he just fired by Trump? I guess he needed a job. Later
  15. I voted Wilmer because I feel at some point they'll need to get his (right handed) bat into the lineup. Later
  16. RIP, Glider. Later
  17. Nymr83 wrote: why don't they just play "home run derby" to decide it? any pitcher or coach on your own team can pitch to any batter of your choice. 20 pitches. most HRs wins. Then the Mets would win the pennant easily. They specialize in bases empty homers. Later
  18. Frayed Knot wrote: Yes, the Spanish cover is partially hidden behind a wall. Don't worry. It is skilled at climbing. Later
  19. Edgy MD wrote: The 20-second pitch clock was already established in the minors last season. They are reducing it to 15 when there are no runners on base. And they've certainly curtailed mound visit length and frequency, both at the major and minor-league levels. Aggressively and, to my thinking, counter-productively. Have those shortened games? What do the numbers show? Later
  20. Where do I line up to vote against this? You want to speed up the game? How about the 20 second pitch clock Charley Finley tried? How about keeping hitters in the batter's box? How about limiting the total time for commercials between half innings? (You want to put five of them in there? Then limit them to, say, 20 seconds each?) How about limiting the total time the catchers and managers/coaches can spend between the lines per game? That's a way to start. Later
  21. Participation is not mandatory. JK. It was me being me, tilting at windmills again. Later OE: Flashback - The first CPF-er I ever met was Kase. It was at a flea market. He told me that there was an old Mets Yearbook, among other memorabilia, for sale and wondered if I would be interested in buying it. I said I wasn't, but thanked him for telling me about it. I guess I'm not a yearbook kind of guy.
  22. [crossout:shifqn4e]Just when you thought it was time for baseball games. Oh, fuck[/crossout:shifqn4e] OK, I guess. Later
  23. Lefty Specialist wrote: 6) Allows us to have an excuse for missing Passover dinner with her relatives #6 is the most important reason. I'll be thinking of you at the game, and maybe also a plague or two on Molina. Later
  24. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I didn't vote for either President Bush, but I would have happily visited either of them in the White House. I would have visited a President McCain or a President Romney too. [crossout]Or a President Rubio or a President Cruz.[/crossout] But NOT a President Trump. I edited that based on my principles. The Pirates beat the Cubs 7-6 on the day I graduated High School, two years before the Mets were born. Later
  25. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I wouldn't be at all surprised if Frazier turned out to be better than Walker this year. Neither would I. But I think Walker will be better than Cabrera. And for less money. Of course, as someone said, he wouldn't have signed for that money at the time we signed Cabrera. But if Walker has a decent year, the YLDBs will be braying like the jackasses they are. Later
