  1. As heard on WFAN: Whether he is ready or not, he will say that he is because of a $5 million bonus payment if he is on the opening day roster. They went on to say that if he says he is ready and the Mets keep him off the fans will say "The Wilpons are trying to save money again". Of course, the ones who said it were the new team of "Moose and Maggie" and Mark Malusis has yet to say anything complimentary about the Mets, back to the days when I saw him on SNY. Later
  2. I don't think his average catches up with his power. .267-35-110 Later
  3. Effective setup man in 74G, 77 IP, 1.24 WHIP Later
  4. He impressed me with a good glove and great arm in the game I saw him last year. He even took an outside pitch to the opposite field for a long double (he hits lefty). He might make the club this year as a late year call up, but I doubt it because of the new September roster restrictions. Maybe 2021. But he definitely will have Luis Guillorme looking over his shoulder and hearing footsteps for his roster spot. Later
  5. My guys in Howard Beach tell me that Edwin Diaz will be sleeping with the fishes if he doesn't perform well this year. My guess is that he will stay dry. 64G 71 IP 1.19WHIP 27 for 33 in save attempts. (He won't be in save situations at the start of the year.) Later
  6. 36-0. 0.48 ERA. 0.76 WHIP Five no-hitters. Hits a grand slam in August. Cures coronavirus in March. Cy Young's ghost submits an op-ed advocating that the award be re-named the "Jacob deGrom Award". There's no WAY he gives up that many runs. 0.36 ERA, but the rest is spot-on. This. The key moment of the year is when the MFYs refuse to take the field against him in the seventh game of the World Series because they don't want to be embarrassed, and the Mets win 2-0 by default. 9. maybe he can get put on the "David Wright Plan" where insurance reimburses Wilpon for his contract but that money doesn't get funneled back into payroll? BOC Later
  10. Eats about 50 innings in non-crucial situations. Later
  11. Batmags, before you continue reading, sit down. OK, sitting? Good. I actually liked that one. (I didn't want you to faint) Later

This sounds abut right, maybe a tad lower. He's saving himself for when the NL adopts the DH.(sigh) Later

  14. Retains his stuff but not his command. every appearance is a nail biter, but he will be a decent seventh inning pitcher in 67 games. 1.24 WHIP, 3,36 ERA. Later

  16. .275 - 45- 124. Those good hitters in front of him will set the table for those RBI. 2nd in MVP voting. Later
  17. Robert Gsellman will play a more significant role in the bullpen in the second half of the season than many projections say he will. Later
  18. My prediction - we will see a picture of him leaving the mound, head down, after giving up a game winning home run of epic distance. The headline will say "BASHED". He will be released the next day. Later

  20. To me, Spring has always meant seeing the box score of the first Spring Training game. This year, there will be the joy of seeing two of them on the same day. Can't wait. Later
  21. Lefty Specialist wrote: Yanks signed LaMahieu to play second base. Lowrie was supposed to be a utility guy as we already had Cano at second. And even if he's perfectly healthy in 2020, he's still just a utility guy; he's not going to dislodge either Cano or McNeil unless they're injured. I don't think so. He still had Didi for short, Glyber for second and Andujar (ROY?) for third. With that infield (Andujar hadn't been injured yet), seems like DJ was insurance, just like Lowrie was. Later
  22. A few days after the Mets signed Lowrie, the MFYs signed DJ Le Mahiew for $2 million more per year. Lowrie had a better OPS+ and oWAR (9 VS 3.2) than DJ in the two years prior to the signings and DJ was older than Lowrie. It looked like the Mets had gotten the better of those deals. Funny how it worked out in 2019. (Actually, NOT funny at all) Let's see how 2020 works out. Later
