  1. =LWFS post_id=36389 time=1588658573 user_id=84] It's a good thing it ain't brought to you by White Castle. I feel like these guys generally have a bit of trouble with the slider.
  2. Worst case? You could just go with https://twitter.com/AlexFast8/status/1255592510036103171this pick-your-team randomizer GIF. I got the LG Twins. (Affectionately knows as the appliances.) Later
  3. This reminds me of the 1978 newspaper strike when the Philadelphia Inquirer suddenly began showing up in New York and you were damn glad to pick up anything that resembled what you were used to. After the two NL teams left New York, some of their games when they played in Philadelphia were telecast back to New York on Channel 13 (before it was a public broadcast station). And SF day games were recreated on New York radio (WOR or WABC?) with Les Keiter as the "announcer". Later
  4. If you can get past the shtick of the host, the original Frankenstein will be shown on Svengoolie tonight. Later
  5. =metsmarathon post_id=36238 time=1588347336 user_id=83] and that evidence was...?
  6. Jordany - celebrating that someone reminded him to wear a cup. Later
  7. well, there are credible domestic violence claims in Bonds history, but it's not like the media cares about that either. I didn't even know about that! I started a thread about it on the old board with the title "She Called Him Jeff Kent During Sex". Later
  8. =Ceetar post_id=36165 time=1588257009 user_id=102] neither of which has anything to do with how good they were.
  9. I've been following this thread since it was posted and thinking of what I would do. But every time I come back to the thread, I stop at the first line. My efforts as a Mets exec would be focused on helping the Wilpons sell the team. It is the primary thing someone who loves the team should do. Anything else takes time and attention away from that job. It would deflect energy like Trump deflecting away from the issue of testing and focusing on extraneous things. Anything else pales by comparison. All those other ideas in this thread could wait to be considered by new ownership. Let them worry about the configuration of an outfield fence or the image of the scoreboard. I can't. Expediting the sale might cost me my job as a Mets exec. But, as the last sentence of the question states, what better corporate decision could I make? Later
  10. So, there are no obvious first-ballot guys next year. I think Bonds, Clemens and Schilling will be in their ninth year. If Bonds or Clemens get in, that controversy would completely overshadow St. Derek at the 2021 ceremony. Or, will writers not vote for those guys for that very reason? There are other, better, reasons not to vote for them. (Steroids and "would I want my kids to grow up to be like them?" A/K/A asshole factor come to mind) Later
  11. And some things will unfortunately stay the same: https://www.sportscasting.com/maligned-umpire-angel-hernandez-might-have-blown-another-call-by-blaming-joe-torre/https://www.sportscasting.com/maligned-umpire-angel-hernandez-might-have-blown-another-call-by-blaming-joe-torre/ Later

Frayed Knot wrote: Baseball's HoF is expected, in the next few days, to announce the postponement of the 2020 induction ceremonies with the idea that this year's class would be inducted along with the 2021 class next summer ... meaning of course that not only is Derek Jeter not going to go in as a solo act but will now be forced to share his date with even more lesser mortals. In the immortal words of Colonel Kurtz: 'The horror ... the horror' Oh goody*. By then there will be a movement to vote him into the executives wing, too. Later * = SM= 96%

  15. =Ceetar post_id=35943 time=1587823358 user_id=102] fwiw, it's only $20 for all audio for all baseball games for the entire year.
  16. .. made their last appearance for the Mets in a post season game. Later
  17. Keep the team on WCBS-AM. Since Frontier Communications( my cable provider) dropped SNY, radio is my only way to experience Mets games real time. And the CBS radio signal reaches me loud and clear. The only other one was WFAN-AM and they are now otherwise occupied. New York FM stations are merely a rumor. As a side note, I can't get ESPN radio which is no great loss, but you would think that if ESPN in based in Connecticut, their advertisers would want to reach listeners in an area of the richest county in their own state. My priority for the team, sell it. All else pales by comparison. Later
  18. Most of it was blocked by the Atlantic wanting me to sign up, so I couldn't read all of it. I remember reading he was so fast and so wild that one opposing team forfeited a game because their manager didn't want to risk a player getting hurt by his fastball. RIP. Later

  24. I looked up this list cause it's pretty much random guessing. Mine wasn't a "random" guess. When I saw that we could include at bats leading off an inning because the player batting ahead of him made the final out of the previous inning, I guessed Delgado because he batted behind Wright a lot. (ducking) Later
