Don't the Mets have enough left handed hitters? Why is JD Davis hitting that way? Later

A Court has just ordered the unsealing of MLB's letter to the MFYS concerning sign stealing. It seems they might have been guilty of some of their own, while crying :foul" at Houston. https://www.audacy.com/971theticket/sports/judge-orders-mlbs-sign-stealing-letter-to-yankees-unsealed?fbclid=IwAR3jtbqW5DQg-_MFE-rKG7vUQ4ZfFh7YiPJipEobSwWgLiAzbIlWarJdD-khttps://www.audacy.com/971theticket/sports/judge-orders-mlbs-sign-stealing-letter-to-yankees-unsealed?fbclid=IwAR3jtbqW5DQg-_MFE-rKG7vUQ4ZfFh7YiPJipEobSwWgLiAzbIlWarJdD-k This could get interesting. I can just see Palka hitting two homers today, then rounding the bases to cheers of "Who needs Conforto?" Or maybe not. But it will be interesting to see of he can regain his power swing that produced 27 homers with the Chisox a few years ago. Later

Benjamin Grimm wrote: Is it at all possible that the Mets are done?? I hope not. Just a few years ago, I wanted good players at every position. Now they have good players, but I don't feel they are good enough, considering the moves the Braves and Phillies have made. I think it will take a Valentinian managerial effort to win with the current outfield. Adding Conforto would make me feel a lot better. Later

=G-Fafif post_id=87295 time=1647599685 user_id=55] The journeyman reliever continues his journey as a Pirate. As a Met, he showed up in late August while the ship was sinking and proceeded to go down with it.

Building on what Lefty said, under the NY City rules, unvaccinated NBA players can play in New York (or Brooklyn) if they are on the visiting team. The rule only applies to employees of a New York City based team. What if the Mets and Nets (and that team from the Bronx) moved their corporate headquarters out of the City to, say, Westchester County? Would that change the players' eligibility? It might work, but would be a pain in the butt considering the regulation might be repealed at any (near) time. Later

=G-Fafif post_id=87196 time=1647473738 user_id=55] Ralph Terry, who finished his career with the 1966 and 1967 Mets, has died at 82. A 23-game winner in 1962 for the team that won the World Series that year. Gave up Mazeroski's HR in 1960.

=batmagadanleadoff post_id=87212 time=1647496223 user_id=68] Freddie Freeman to the Dodgers. That's some squad they've put together out there in Chavez Ravine.

Not sure if this means the MFYs are out of the Freddie Freeman market, but they just re-signed Anthony Rizzo. https://www.mlb.com/news/anthony-rizzo-yankees-deal?fbclid=IwAR0ZUAeWDUTw8XD6Fbp84DbAZ-2IsmC5v_-7Dr8xpSsBkf60Jj8qA_ApeFUhttps://www.mlb.com/news/anthony-rizzo-yankees-deal?fbclid=IwAR0ZUAeWDUTw8XD6Fbp84DbAZ-2IsmC5v_-7Dr8xpSsBkf60Jj8qA_ApeFU Later

Edgy MD wrote: I don't want to make a thing of it because I'm glad he's OK too, but OK is a real relative term after a wreck like that. I was thinking the same thing. You don't really know how he's doing psychologically. When I rolled my Jeep in an ice storm a few years ago, the first State Trooper on the scene helped me out of the car and asked "How do you feel?" I said, "I feel ok". The Trooper said, "Well, you look like shit. I'm calling an ambulance". They took me to the hospital for X-Rays and overnight observation. Did they do the same for Alonso? Later

Before we were so rudely interrupted, the Metly things we were concerned about were: 1) Adding another hitter (Kris Bryant?) 2) Improving the back end of the rotation 3) Maybe adding another bullpen arm 4) How will Cano do? 5) Jeff McNeil - play him, where? Trade him? 6) How do the rookies look? 7) How will Buck's managing style work? 8) anything else? Now the fun begins, and we begin to get some answers. Later

Deets from Passan. • Limiting the number of times a player can be optioned to the minor leagues in one season. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/33470321/sources-mlb-union-reach-tentative-agreement-new-cba-salvage-162-game-seasonhttps://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/33470321/sources-mlb-union-reach-tentative-agreement-new-cba-salvage-162-game-season Edgy, this looks like it will make your roster updates a tad less frequent (how much less isn't clear). Players won't be bouncing back and forth between the majors and the minors as much as in recent years. How do you feel about that? Later

One report said, in part, "The National League has adopted the use of the DH". In my mind that should have said, "The DH was forced down the throat of the National League in order to get this done." Later

In case you're wondering what that scream was that you heard this morning, It was from me. I was in my car listening to WFAN and wanting to hear any news about the MLB labor situation. Going to break, I heard "Coming up with Tiki and Tierney (whoever the fu*k they are) will be Yankee Great Darryl Strawberry". And they are hosting a sports radio call-in show in New York City? How far the station has fallen. sigh Later

I heard (WFAN? ESPN?) that one issue still holding things up is an international draft. One bright light is that some agents agree that the current system (any team can sign youngsters) exploits kids too young to realize the "implications". It would be funny if the agents are the force that finally lets them reach an agreement. Later
