  4. We wanted a Roy and we got a ......... Corey. I felt if we had given him a place in the rotation and kept him there for a while he would have become an effective contributor. But he was moved back and forth, starter to reliever, majors to minors, and he never found his niche or rhythm. Wish him well, just not against the Mets. Later
  5. According to Baseball America, Oswalt signed a minor league deal with San Francisco. Later
  6. From another (membership required) baseball board: Travis Snider announced his retirement from baseball on Thursday. The former top prospect hadn't played in the majors since way back in 2015 and struggled to a .174 batting average and .610 OPS over 63 games (167 plate appearances) last summer with the Triple-A affiliate of the Braves. Set to turn 34 years old early next month, Snider finishes with 435 total hits, 54 home runs, and a career .244/.311/.399 slash line in parts of eight major league seasons. i remember when he was going to be the next big thing. 7. Since there was no draft in those days, what if the Mets had out-bid Houston and signed Rusty Staub instead of Ed Kranepool? What would this site be called? Later

  11. Eric Chavez from the MFYs to the Mets, Luis Rojas from the Mets to the MFYs. Did they throw in a minor leaguer to balance out the trade? Oh, wait. Any decent hitting coach would help this team more than Rojas did as manager. Never mind. Later
  12. He wasn't here long enough for us to take stock of his abilities. Later
  13. Isn't the bench coach someone who guides the (sometimes inexperienced) manager in in-game tactical moves? It should be someone with at least minor league managerial experience to guide the newbie. But Showalter has tons of experience so that isn't really needed. So it could go to someone who could be trained to take over from Buck. The showy name would be David Wright, but the best one from that list IMHO is Edgardo Alfonso. Later
  14. =Fman99 post_id=84065 time=1641327873 user_id=86] Could any Mets fan associate Vince Coleman with anything besides the firecrackers?
  15. I remember him as being a good hitter and bad fielder. One writer described him as "two i's, two t's, no hands." RIP Later
  16. I've been aware of Eurovision for several years. One of my favorite actresses, Danielle Ruah(from Portugal), has hosted it several times, and one of my favorite singers, Saara Aalto (Finland) finished second one year. For Americans who don't follow it, it is a BIG deal, watched by hundreds of millions every year. That said, I'm a little reticent to see the movie because I'm not a big Will Farrell fan( to put it delicately), and he will ruin Eurovision for me. Later

  22. 1,300 eye catching displays? A ballpark-wide IPTV system that will carry nearly 100 channels of sports and entertainment content Is that to take our attention away from the product they're putting on the field? Of course it should be better than the hegdish we've been subjected to, but what about the game we're there to see? I don't like the objective, but am holding my judgement until I see how well it is executed. Later

  25. Edgy MD wrote: The presence of Reynolds throws some serious cold water on any notion of Ronny Mauricio opening at AAA, which, after only eight trips to the plate in AA, is just fine. According to Baseball-Reference.com Reynolds hasn't played shortstop since 2017, so I don't think he will be bumping Mauricio off short next year if the kid makes it to AAA. Later
