  1. Laureano is a right handed hitting centerfielder who can hit (his weight). That would be a welcome change. Later
  2. Good, then let him go looking for players to fill holes on the current major league team. I'm pretty sure not many other GMs were lining up to sign Pache. I hope he didn't spend more than a few minutes on it. Later
  3. He had a delivery that reminded me of Dick Hyde, Terry Leach and Kent Tekulve. Later
  4. If they have to use him this year, it would tell me that: Stearns couldn't find anyone better elsewhere, and None of the kids Stearns drafted have improved from AAA or AA to the level of major leaguers Stearns is wasting time filling the minor league roster instead of the major league one - a mistake in priorities. Later
  5. I predict that at least once during this season I will spell or pronounce his name as Polcano. Later
  6. I will be lighting candles for seven more nights, hoping for some miracles. Later
  7. Remember? We’ve been drinking to forget. Later
  8. Right now, we need another middle infielder (where Jorge usually plays) like we need a third nostril. This may mean that another trade(s) will happen. Maybe Mc Squirrel? Mauricio? Acuna? Later
  9. Was it about the monster you saw on the wing? Later
  10. Playing a middle infielder at first sounds like his way of improving infield defense. Later
  11. You said "how we define it" and did not specify players only or anything about retiring numbers. I define an icon as someone who is idolized or adored. Gil fits. Later
  12. Good signing. Later
  13. If you don't just mean players, I would add Gil Hodges to that list. Later
  14. Can't find the post, but someone here mentioned that the approach reminds them of a Moneyball scenario. IIRC, there is a scene when the traditional baseball guys are wondering where they are going to replace their slugging first baseman's HR and RBI. Beane responded that you don't have to find that production in one player, but several players can make up that difference. Maybe they can do that. But can they find enough production to add the numbers of Nimmo, too? I'm not sure that's available. Later
  15. He's a 240 pound ex-catcher. I'm curious how he might be a key run preventer at first. But the bat plays well. Later
  16. Of those veteran first base options Ben mentioned, I prefer Yandy Diaz - his numbers just strike me as a tad better, and he strikes out less than Contraras or Paredes. Any of them would be acceptable place holders for Clifford for a year or two. Later
  17. That's one day after they signed OF Mike Yastrzemski. Later
  18. A well thought out analysis. Now we're waiting for the sugar to make that medicine go down. Later
  19. And we’re not sure he is capable of doing that. Later
  20. Things happen in threes. First Díaz Then Alonso. What’s next? Some sheik buying Mrs. Met for his harem? Stay tuned. Later
  21. Stearns didn't even kiss us first. I voted World Series (or nuthin'). I'm getting too old for this ****. Later
  22. My kid’s off to the Houston organization. Happy trails, kid. Later
  23. I’m glad my kid Trey found a new home. Later
  24. If he can also sign a center fielder and closer I’ll allow him to use Vaseline. Later
  25. Fandom is not rational. And this irrational fan is really pissed. Stearns had better come back from the meetings with some needed players or he shouldn’t come back. Later
