  1. Ordonez made it look easy most of the time. I think he might have made some hard plays look harder but he could play. Muffy made it look hard Lagares made it look easy Leiter made it look hard
  2. You'd think it would be Koufax considering how much the Wilpons must love this guy. Hey have you heard? HE'S FROM LONG ISLAND
  3. Matz should be more like Tom Hausman and become a long reliever for the Milwaukee Brewers. Till then expect the same old Matz this year. 20 starts, 2 DL stints, a few 5-0 leads given away, a few 7-inning, 10-K, 2 hitters, lots of unearned deference for being from Long Island and the last of Omar's surviving draftees.
  4. RISE TO THE OCASSION
  5. One of my Facebook acquaintances at the game was complaining about substandard service at the concessions today. She's sorta a I wanna see your manager type, however.
  6. I have a dumbass meetings all day at work then have to motor out for school meet-the-teacher crap. I don;t know if I can participate today
  7. I'm afraid what I'd find if I searched for "Jock" magazine today. And that logo, um... Harvey cover is WAY too overdesigned that goes without saying; but the Strawberry cover is too. I think crossouts only work with a freehand kinda font. Also the pun just isn't so great that you have to go such lengths to make it. I'd have played it straight there: THE REBOUNDING METS or something. As a cover, the Seaver is a good cover. He casts the perfect expression of a determined, exhausted and dislocated guy; there's immediacy to the headline and the RED just screams like blood. Back then it was still possible people learned of big trades in a weekly magazine.
  8. =G-Fafif post_id=5287 time=1553721537 user_id=55] Mickey confirms Pete will start and indicates he'll bat third. #Lonsball
  9. Ochoseis gives serious tour advice. We totally destroyed Montreal with his help, Fairmont bagels, yum.
  10. He's one of these guys who's been just about excellent however he's been deployed. And if we didn't have him, we'd be all like, we need that guy. His Wifey is beginning to concern me tho
  11. Edgy MD wrote: =Centerfield post_id=5210 time=1553700104 user_id=65] Koos. Though I do love Wright's swing, the photo is kinda shitty. HoJo's, on the other hand, is a lousy one-handed flail at the curveball away. Yay, HoJo! Make that mark!!
  12. Easy to tell them apart. Neiuewenhuis was like a super-athlete with minimal classic baseball skills who could use his raw physicality to do things like cover ground in center field and hit massive home runs but he also was a low-average guy who whiffed a lot. den Dekker was more of a classic baseball throwback center fielder who had small-ball skills and probably more technique. His offensive upside was too limited for today's high-powered game but he had the defensive skills to play MLB center field. At their respective bests you play Nueiwy every day, at least against RH pitching. dD is a late inning backup and emergency starter.
  13. Best thing about den Dekker was trading him for Blevins just before OD in 2015 then seeing Blevins instantly mount the Nationals. That was great. dD was really bad last year and probably never plays MLB ball again.
  14. Worried. Jason Bay is the other guy you were thinking of.
  15. =G-Fafif post_id=5054 time=1553605753 user_id=55] Full no-trade means FUCK the Daily News and its bullshit Photoshopping of our ace into other uniforms.
  16. Remember that Jefferies cover when it came out. Wood bats may still be doomed but its been 30 years since that one.
  17. I thought I'd already made a wildly inappropriate prediction for him already. I dunno. I think it's reasonable to expect he'll be the Kevin Plawecki of pitching: Good in the minors, and good enough some days to be a contributing big leaguer but not always, despite getting plenty of chances to prove otherwise. So I think we'll see him up here for a bit. 12 appearances, 22 innings, 3 starts, 1-3, 4.45
  18. Yeah he was also a Friend of Nelson vs. a Friend of Fred
  19. Let's Go Mtes
  20. It was a funny movie, what I like about the Marvel stuff is they get the fun factor right, all the visual thunder was cool but it could have done with less afaic.
  21. I'm unable at this time of year to go "on record" with my pessimism but will say I have some. I further don't get you guys who'd predict they make the playoffs but not go all the way when that last bit is such a crapshoot, why risk being wrong on that? 91-71, playoffs, world series, tickertape etc
