  1. As I noted at the beginning of the year the NLE was going to end disappointing for at least 2 clubs. It was a fun year with 4 of them all more or less "going for it"
  2. Future small town cop
  3. Have great players, like Scherzer, Soto and Rendon.
  4. This whole series has been about failures of the other team
  5. 3. Be the first team to win 4 games
  6. Fonzie, if I'm not mistaken, has experience limited to a terrible team in Brooklyn
  7. The relay getting Altuve out at the plate is a hightlight worth seeing if you ain't yet.
  8. We're seeing a lot of failure in this series. Love it
  9. Braves rallying here to spoil a shutout in the 9th.
  10. Yeah I don't think they stood a chance going down 2-0 so as long as it worked you may as well applaud them for trying it. At some point they may regret it but that point might never come otherwise.
  11. I thought it was alright. I liked the concept a lot, liked the lead actors, really really enjoyed the music. I thought watching it with Lunchpail was great for him. But disagreed on the terrificness of McKinnon, and really most of the side characters (his parents etc) who were too sitcommy and over the top and made the lead character look stupid and just naive.
  12. Reminiscent of the Dbaggs leaning on Schilling and Johnson. Dodgers have them loaded, down 4-2, 2 out in the 9th
  13. I'm a let the worse team lose kinda guy with this series.
  14. Washington doesn't look like they can hang with these Dodgers
  15. My first impression of him was that I didn't like the way he spoke. It's kind of a weird accent or cadence that's extremely off-putting. As time wore on it became more and more grating. "We neeeed that energy. That's what we neeeed"
  16. Crackerjack game happening here. Ron's partner really screwed up the call by the way. First he called the hit as though it would be a foul, no hint it might fall fair or for a hit, then he neglected to mention that the tying run scored getting all caught up in the Wong play. Then he says we *remain* tied when it was just tied but hadn't said so. I dunno if Wong should have run but he seemed to be arriving too late, thanks in part to the shitty call.
  17. Riggs was here only to be the guy if Mickey batted out of order again, so makes sense he's gone given Mickey managed to avoid that.
  18. =41Forever post_id=23618 time=1570119895 user_id=69] I think it's interesting, and the Mets have certainly given people first chances. But I think they'll go for someone with experience his time around.
  19. The batting-out-of-order thing was just so emblematic of the Mickey Era. He wasn't prepared, it cost the team a game it should won, and was part of these stretches of awful baseball he was unable to pull them out from until it was too late. Other incidents of seeming unpreparedness peppered his era (like pointedly not working out Smith in the outfield in spring training then being forced to due to injuries; expressing hard-and-fast 9th-inning, lead-only rules for Diaz then changing his tune). Went on and on. Like Art Howe IMO, he "lit up the room" during his intro press conference and I really bought into the notion we had a rising star. But as a rookie he needed friends in the org and at the same time he was arriving Fred was manuevering with Omar to push Sandy overboard and/or give him cancer. Never appeared completely comfortable as a manager, *especially* when he was trying to express confidence in a decision. You always felt he was trying to give the answer he felt people wanted to hear and not necessarily his true feelings. Graciously gave up 36 in the Kooz retirement thing saying all the right things about what an honor it was to have worn his jersey. Immediately afterward asked about taking on a new No. 26, confessed he doesn't give a shit what number he wears. In both cases he was only trying produce the right soundbite and it never seemed to occur to him they were so opposed
  20. I dunno. Does Beltran really strike you as a strong communicator? He sure had a hard time making the extent of his knee injury understood. I'm sure that was a two-way misunderstanding influenced by evil purposes, but it's what I thought of.
  21. Agree on the sweet unis, but would prefer home teams wear the team name on the chest, and their city on the road. Tampa is now my favorite remaining team and I got nothing for the park or the home state. City of Tampa is kinda nice in spots but it's still pretty much Florida. Feel good for d'Arnaud. He was destined to wind up in either Tampa or Oakland, sorta like Doodoo.
  22. See what you Brewers fans did? You made the Nationals win! The key was rooting for them both to lose and then you couldn't go wrong.
  23. Vic Sage wrote: In all seriousness... see, that's the problem. Why shouldn't it be a serious notion that the Mets sign Cole? I mean i know why its not, but $$ is not an acceptable answer for a NYC franchise with a mid-market budget. For the record, I think the Mets should sign Cole, re-sign Wheeler, sign Rendon, and trade Syndergaard to the Red Sox for Mookie Betts (and if they have to include Smith or Davis too, fine). Now that would be an off-season. I'd be on board with that
