    I thought Smotzy brought up an interesting point the other day, completely speculative and all, that Alonso is the kind of player that feeds on the energy of a crowd more than most, and the fraudulent season is making it more difficult on him than on other dudes. That's probably true at some level.

    Both. I felt bad for him as a Met, he had the ability you could tell, but for whatever reason couldn't bring it regularly, wasn't mean enough, got pushed around too much by the fans and media. How certain humiliations (assigned 3 different uni numbers) couldn't spark him but another (basically released) could is a shame for us and does make me hate him, a little.
