  1. Yeah this is a really interesting development in the markets. I never put anything past what a group of pissed off young people online can do. On the baseball side there's sort of a built-in pressure that owners play by the "rules" (the rules are their rules, after all). The poor-mouthed benefit to a degree in that violators give them money but seems like over the long term they'd prefer the tax do what's intended to and act as de facto salary cap and bring more cost certainty vs. one-time windfalls. So Cohen needs to consider whatever pressures that brings.
  2. He was like Darling if Darling had frequent elbow issues.
  3. Ty is an American Treasure. Is his Sweet Potato Ty's campaign ongoing?
  4. Last remnant by a longshot from the first Omar era. Omar and the Wilpons seemed to really love him, and never dared to move him even though he was wildly inconsistent and often not right physically. Had great moments like his debut but also struck me very odd. Married a religious Southern country singer, never convinced me he actually liked the Mets, took forever to arrive. I've been mad at him ever since he blew a 4-0 lead to the White Sox on a beautiful Saturday afternoon game early in his career. Probably his second season after an injury stopped his first. Just that kinda guy. (Edit.. the details are not as I remember them). Still Beat it, Matz!!!
  5. Matz was about the worst pitcher in the league last year
  6. Mets dealing Matz to the Jay's for 3 prospects, who probably suck.
  7. Loup: https://twitter.com/AnthonyDiComo/status/1354512811074973701?s=19there it is? Tell me you were influenced, even a little, by the new Tag Team commercial? That is a great commercial! I'm not sure if it makes me wanna buy insurance but I LOL at that one
  8. I suck at puns compared to you guys and I think I'm good at it
  9. Was trying to come up with a witty subject line to begin new thread on this, beaten to the punch. I guess this points to a vacancy at the assistant general manager level, and the need for experience in the event Scott catches COVID and dies. HIRE ED FUCKIN LYNCH ALREADY
  10. This really reads like an already composed acceptance message that was edited upon realizing he'd fall short
  11. Not a bad player but a Met because Brodie and Jeff couldn't commit to options A or B, and his limitations behind the dish and age, which we all thought would show, sure enough showed. Feel like Sandy went to school on the musical chairs last time and secured a guy who brought D to the game Obliterated all of Tony Tarasco's records as the most productive Met hitter ever to wear No. 40.
  12. I'm not a Hall of Famer and writers suck, therefore the 71% of you who supported my candidacy suck
  13. I thought this news was already out there.
  14. Davis and a shit prospect is where I start. Cubs wanna save the $$? Then save the $$
  15. I'm into Ollie
  16. I thought this guy was alright, or at least, he was a succeeder where many similarly talented bros were failers. Resides in the same part of my internal Mets file cabinet as Elmer Dessens--waiver wire fat Latin relief pitchers who didn't suck as much as you might have expected them to

  18. I think it's an underappreciated loss that the beaters have retreated to the background in COVID, and I'd be surprised if the fakening of interactions between journalists and the club isn't a shitty remnant of the Post-Pandemdic New Normal
  19. The issue may also be the best deal we can make for JDD, if we're prepared to move him to improve still. There's online speculation he could go to Milwaukee in a deal for Cain, parhaps, guy on Twitter imagines, with familia and getting back pretend deGrom LHRP Josh "Black and gay" Hader.
  20. I figure of the options above Rosenthal or Wilson.
  21. ROBERT CARSON OR GET OUT OF MY STORE
  22. No relation to George but Springer & James McCann have a longstanding professional relationship: https://www.winsightgrocerybusiness.com/technology/catching-ceo-turned-tech-investor-james-mccannhttps://www.winsightgrocerybusiness.com/technology/catching-ceo-turned-tech-investor-james-mccann
  23. I dunno. The Cashman Era is now ridiculously long. The only guys I can think of off the top of my head are like Clippard and Melky Cabera. But like the guys they gave up for Stanton or Michael Pineda... The whole Chapman thing (4 prospects who went nowhere to Cincy, then to the Cubs for Gleyber Torres, then resigning) It was like coming and going with that wife-beating steroid cheat
  24. I might be wrong but the MFYs have never traded away a prospect that's amounted to anything. OTOH they also have a good record of acquiring big-name guys who don't fully succeed
  25. NATIONALS GIVE HAND JOB
