  1. A Boy Named Seo wrote: Walker has worn 0, 00 and 99 in his career. Do we know his new uni number yet? They haven't announced it yet. Currently only 00, 7, 69, 84, 85, 99 available, but at least 1 number frees up when they drop from the 40 to add him and Pillar. It's likely Syndy to 60-day il will clear 1 spot. I got a small bet on 99
  2. Syndergaard's first tweet was genuinely funny. Bauer cannot take a joke and is a hypocrite Sydergaard does post way too many shirtless photos not to be catching shit of his own. Neither guy is an angel
  3. I just wanna go on record that it sucks they're also retiring the league names under descriptive bullshit names that you know will soon have a sponsor stapled to: Triple A East Brough To You By Taco Bell
  4. I didn't know (or had forgotten) that Angel Mangual is the brother of one-time Met Pepe Mangual, and that they were cousins to Coco Laboy
  5. I think he is a bright guy who understands at some level that he's possessed of ridiculous self-delusion and persecution that he needs as fuel to succeed. That said exhibiting it the way he does strikes me as a questionable mindset. Baseball has a way of devouring over-the-top bravado
  6. Hay Man was arguing just yesterday on the Twitter that the Mets ought to have gone for Odorizzi on the basis that he'd be "better able to handle New York." Whatevs. As someone mentioned above, better than Matz to which I strongly agree and can only add "not nearly as solid as Zack Wheeler."
  7. I've watched that clip about 30 times already
  8. Realmuto breaks a thumb, may not receive Zack Wheeler's opening day delivery
  9. Barely recall him at all. I know he was up briefly last year and sucked. Was a fraudulent Met in a fraudulent year
  10. The guy who went to the cubs was marisnick
  11. for all his no-bullshit exterior Sandy has a touch of PT Barnum in him. Saw Tebow play at Spring Training. He looked mostly like he belonged, in the way a minor league slugger might belong. I wouldn't have sworn off fandom forever if he got a chance however small. As I recall he broke his wrist or something shortly before it might have happened
  12. Ready set, make a bet On who'll be this year's Dark Horse Met A player we have not met yet A future that is not yet set Could it be Franklyn Kilome? Yennsy Diaz? Sean Reid-Foley? Thomas Szapuki? Patrick Mazeika? Who are these Dark Horse Mets that you speak of? I scanned the spring roster, saw names in italics Fargas, Peraza, Barmes, Mallex Yamamoto was tempting, his curveball is brilliance But it can'r be denied -- my choice is McWilliams Sam is the man you will all come to know All seven feet of him and his afro A reliever whose track record totally sucks Will leave young fans and old thunderstruck He'll emerge from Syracuse in April or May By July fans will pay just to see him play He'll tear up the track like Secretariat Sam McWilliams, the Dark Horse Met
  13. Questions about his health and strike throwing, good HR preventer, so decent starter candidate but wouldn't want to build a rotation around him
  14. Yeah I sorta hate pitchers and catchers day since it heralds the arrival of the longest and shittiest 6 weeks of the year. Weather sucks, nothing to do especially if you are not gay for college basketball, boring meaningless games, few interesting storylines that are beaten to death within hours, anticipation, injuries, rain and snow, no holidays that are fun unless you are a Irish guy or religious guy. Pitchers and Catchers suuuuuuucccccckkj
  15. Between a Brach and a hard place
  16. Matz was the worst pitcher in the league last year. Not saying it was addition by subtraction but seriously the least of my concerns. I'd have liked another studly pitcher and kinda surprised that they didn't get one but Matz is no better than the other guys we added.
  17. Curious they'd do this after also getting Almora
  18. We forgot to discuss Kevin Pillar, who's apprently signed to a MLB deal. Used to go get it for the Jays
  19. Too many Jareds out there to keep track
  20. That elbow was always on borrowed time
  21. No longer associated with the Mets, says dicomo.
  22. I remember the Mets called on Sewald to pitch an exhibition game against the big club when they were trying to pretend they supported their AAA team being out in Vegas, and Sewald (a Vegas local, donchaknow) pitched really well that day. This was before he ever got up to the club. I also remember his end: I biked past a locked-down, COVID-bubbled MCU Park and peered through the chain-links into the bullpen and there he was, banished. "Hey Paul Sewald! Let's Go Mets!!" and got a fist-pump. Seemed like a nice fella who's determination overcame a shortage in the talent department better than most. I was always surprised he lasted as long as he did.
  23. Yeah got to a point where I began to trust him and only then did he prove untrustworthy. But I'm gonna say he overall was a good get as journeymen relievers go and wish him well as probably Pittsburgh's highest paid player.
  24. I don't think I've ever heard this song, which is hard to believe of me and a 1980 release on A&M records. I just looked Ali Thomson up and am not surprised to learn he's a Scottish guy whose brother was in Supertramp.
  25. I thought his name was cool. Like an avant-garde jazz musician, or a corrupt oil tycoon, or maybe, an elevated interpretation of a perverse sex act. Wore a stupid number 70 or 71, can't remember which
