  1. The Alaska Met is the unforgettable Dave Williams, who took the mound when they debuted the racing stripes throwback for the first time
  2. I don't think we're going to have the pitching depth to keep up with Philly or Atlanta but I am not nearly as down on the offense. An underwhelming rookie season doesn't condemn Baty to failure for the rest of his days; he will be better. Vientos I have less faith in my if they're really trusting the DH role to him they probably have faith. Alvarez will be more consistent, you'd think, and McNuts will bounce back. Marte was an excellent piece when healthy and he appears so now? Bader and Taylor will shore up the outfield depth and both guys are a little dangerous with the bat. We have Lindor and Alonso and Nimmo too. Hoping the Mets will be the team that wins 7-6 a lot.
  3. Both are Newsday covers that are overcharged with hype. It's a stretch to call the Nimmo game "REDEMPTION" it was more like, METS WIN DESPITE FUCKING UP ALL NIGHT AFTER LOSING THE NIGHT BEFORE And as we already know the "story" concocted by the Escobar cover is bullshit since nobody cares what our record vs the Marlins is at a random point in the season.
  4. Jack Egbert Aaron Harang
  5. New Hampshire Don Florence The 41s are Jim Bethke, Gordie Ricardson, Grover Powell and Dennis Musgraves
  6. My Mets column was good today at least. (Pumpsie Green, JJ Putz, Jerry Grote) I never get Twins categories correct. Also, Larry Dierker wasn't the strikeout compiler I thought he was
  7. Tried to beat down my rarity score by avoiding Paige & Gibson but wound up striking out X-X-Judy Johnson (0.7%) Kukrow (1%)-Marc Hill (0.7%)-Tito Fuentes (0.5%) Ankeil (5%)-Torre (2%)-Ken Rietz (0.09%)
  8. Are you telling me that JJ Putz isn't still the best set-up man in baseball
  9. I admire how McLean beards up to take the mound and shaves to hit
  10. He was the opposite of Arauz, a quiet unassuming guy with quiet unassuming performances. I couldn't believe how often he played last year. I mean I could but I couldn't also. Among outfielders who wore No. 30 he was no Floyd or Conforto.
  11. Staten Islanders are Bamberger and Sean Lannan
  12. Carlton Willey was from Maine. Kevin McGowan was from New Hampshire
  13. Went for Soto and Rendon and ruined my rarity score. Otherwise, notable for the speed at which I completed it. Rendon-Joyner-Appier Soto-Colbert-Show Clippard-Balboni-May
  14. I was relieved when Ottavino walked and indifferent at best now that's back. I fully acknowledge that he's a pretty good pitcher, has the right experience for this team, etc. But probably no pitcher in baseball had his drawbacks exposed more glaringly in the New Stealing Era.
  15. & Jack Fischer
  16. Yes that article reminded me Butto exists. Hopefully he can cut down on the walks
  17. Lets call this a sunny take. Megill throwing an "elite" splitter! Severino pushing harder! Manaea improving velocity! Houser: a throwback! Quintana: Impressive work ethic! https://nypost.com/2024/01/27/sports/mets-enter-2024-with-less-star-power-but-more-depth-in-rotation/https://nypost.com/2024/01/27/sports/mets-enter-2024-with-less-star-power-but-more-depth-in-rotation/
  18. Piazza and Stearns
  19. Belongs in the category of veteran new arrivals who get hurt in spring training. No bueno.
  20. I thought they'd had it with this guy and his incessant letting-the-other-team-stealing.
  21. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: We should totally sign Kershaw And trade for Greinke, too. Then the Mets could be the team where Hall of Fame bound pitchers go to decline and suck. Like I said, as a 5th starter in the vein of Hershiser 99.
  22. 4. Is Muke Piuzza
