  2. Also you missed Centerfield for Mike Trout

  6. =Ceetar post_id=40496 time=1594835234 user_id=10]The Rangers are a little different. (And I don't know how much of this translates to the 'spin off' name in NY)
  7. Jose Reyes graduates to the Brognas of the world.
  8. Wrong ex-Met infielder will be inducted the next time the Cardinals hold their HOF ceremony. https://www.mlb.com/cardinals/fans/hof-votehttps://www.mlb.com/cardinals/fans/hof-vote Hernandez will have wait another year Herr, will be joined with John Tudor and Bill White.
  9. I think John Gibbons was part of the 1985 backup backstop crew as well
  10. Tom Paciorek?
  11. Edgy MD wrote: I think Sid Fernandez was set to pitch after Darling, so I'll go with him. Sid didn't play, but my bad. I meant to ask for the only Mets position player not to appear in that game. Larry Bowa?
  12. FWIW, the first Clevelander that spent the majority of his tenures with the team while wearing the Chief Wahoo logo on his cap to enter Cooperstown has the team's then (when he played) alternate "C Logo" cap on his plaque: https://www.tradingcarddb.com/Images/Cards/Baseball/10180/10180-10900609Fr.jpg> While its more apropos of the franchise cleansing itself of said logo, it should be noted that I don't think team names have ever been used in the "Franchises played/worked for" listings on the HOF plaques. So in a way they've been ahead of that curve going all the way back to Napoleon Lajoie, Tris Speaker and Cy Young among the first couple of HOF classes!

  14. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Richard Neer probably said "you may have a point there" and moved onto the next caller who surely may have had a point there. FWIW, I'm going to go under the belief that the caller to this day thinks that not only did the Mets let a pretty darn good starter in Brown go for nothing, but had Pedro Martinez (no middle initial, 5 games in 1996) both before he became PEDRO MARTINEZ, and as he was starting his decline!
  15. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I assume you're not talking about Kevin Dewayne Brown, who pitched two innings for the 1990 Mets? FWIW that reminds me of a perfect example of shoddy radio research. Brown was in midst of a hot stretch with the Rangers in the early 1990s (most likely his All-Star season of 1992), and someone called WFAN to complain to the host (I want to say Richard Neer) about how the Mets had "let this guy go" because he recalled that the Mets had "Kevin Brown" a few years earlier. The host said they'd look up to see how the Mets lost the Kevin Brown that was currently hot for the Rangers, and have that info by the end of the show. They never did! *rolls eyes* This was before the days of Baseball-Reference.com, but being a sports radio station, you'd think they'd have access to MLB guide books, encyclopedias, etc. Hell, as the Mets FLAGSHIP STATION they'd get the Mets PR staff on the horn and find out "Oh, the Mets had a guy with the same name, and they sent him to Milwaukee in the trade for Charlie O'Brien. There's the answer! Oh and the Kevin Brown doing well for the Rangers has been there since being drafted and signed by them in 1986"
  16. =Ceetar post_id=36953 time=1589743072 user_id=102] And also why did this need to take place in the early 20th century? Joaquin Phoenix is 45. I don't know what age Joker was supposed to be but that seems about right. That means Joker, in the future when Batman is Batman, is like a 60ish year old man? That doesn't really seem to track.

Do you count Mays? It's ridiculous that he was on the Mets, but it doesn't surprise you. He had, er, memorable World Series moments with them. Do you count Henderson? It's certainly not the first team that you think of when you remember his career, or the second or third. But he had an NLDS against the Diamondbacks that was absolutely scintillating. Is this just about legends with a detour that you've forgotten? Or is it about random and unexpected team-player connections? In the end, I'm leaving both on, if only because the Mets would have had awesome outfielders to take their place, so it's not like I'm rigging it in their favor. If you eliminate Mays and Henderson, you have Richie Ashburn, Gary Sheffield and Bobby Abreu to take their place. They also have Dean Chance as a sixth starter and Adrián González on the bench. This a great wait-they-were-on-that-team lineup. If you adjust for them not existing until the '60s, this might be the best of all 30 teams. [/bLOCKQUOTE]

  20. Sadly within those years since, Harvey's career went into a nosedive following a gritty losing effort in a final World Series game, while Strasburg, despite getting Glavined in terms of surrendering the team Ace role, ends up winning the most recent World Series MVP Award.
  21. That's a funny story. Patch that tape into the forum. [FIMG=555]https://i.ytimg.com/vi/QzN5Lg2rl9U/hqdefault.jpg[/FIMG] Damn gimmick cost him his life. RIP Owen
  22. Edgy MD wrote: Edgy MD wrote: I like Ernie Borgnine's evil villain getup. That's funny you said/wrote that because last night I was googling "Blue Blazer" for ideas or inspiration on how to dress this villain. I was also wondering if "Blue Blazer" is some sort of wrestling term. I don't know much about wrestling. I know and have heard of the stuff that everybody probably knows, like a half-nelson and Hulk Hogan and Gorgeous George. My 4th grade buddy was a big Bruno Sammartino fan. And Gorilla Monsoon, too. Back in the 4th grade. Anyways, it turns out that "Blue Blazer" is the name of an actual modern-day wrestler. Did you know that? "The Blue Blazer! He absolutely destroyed Sergeant Slaughter last week." "Wait a minute ... YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT A WRESTLER!!!" I'm not doing it justice, but we kept a tape of it and it many pairs of pants were ruined when it was played back. Anyhow, since then, I pretty much call all fictional wrestlers "The Blue Blazer." Oddly enough Owen Hart was known as one of the biggest pranksters and jokers in that WWF locker room. And now I want to see an in his prime Sarge (early to mid 1980s) square off with a towards the end Owen. Or even Bret. Unless Sarge did time in Stampede (The Hart family's promotion in Calgary) I don't recall much interaction with Sarge and any of the Harts.
  23. The 1990s Batman comics had the Contagion story, which led to the epic crossover event No Man's Land story that was Gotham being completely quarantined from the world (Gotham also suffered a devastating earthquake as well). So now I'm imagining those classic stories with the 1960s series' satirical earnestness! 😳🤣
  24. Bobby Orr?
  25. =Ceetar post_id=32112 time=1582232775 user_id=102] You can get in seat service in the fancy seats. I think they'll get you anything even. But that's not quite the same thing as Uber Ballpark or whatever. Beershare. You're on line and only getting 1? load up the app and see if someone wants your second. Deliver it, boom.
