  1. We're gonna need a bigger boat! Yup, this takes up the ENTIRE RF Auxillary scoreboard wall. Course we could always ditch the 88 and 99 pennants and just keep the pennants for years we won the NL Championship
  2. A little self-indulgence for those who wanted Carter to be wearing a Met Cap in Cooperstown! Next to it (both are to your extreme left when you step out of the elevator) is a HOF style plaque honoring Bob Murphy on his retirement And of course out in LF there is this marker honoring where Tommie Agee hit one of the longest HR balls in Shea's history (not sure if its still the record)
  3. BTW for some reason Jerry Koosman's bust was left like that, you really have to go right on top of it just to see his name!
  4. You want pictures? How about Meeting the Met Hall of Famers! 1981 1982 1983 1984 1986 1988 1989 1990 1991 1992 1993 1996 1997 2001 2002 And over by the Auxillary scoreboard in Left you will see 37 Casey Stengel Retired 9/2/1965 14 Gil Hodges Retired 6/9/1972 41 Tom Seaver 7/24/1988 42 Jackie Robinson, Mandated By MLB Retired 4/15/1997
  5. BTW, someone refresh my fuzzy memory of September 2000? Specifically the Yankees' free fall to finish at 87 wins, and therefore seemingly a worse team than the Met team they faced in the World Series? Was this accurate? Because I've heard alot of Yankee biased media members use the theory that the MFY of that year had such a large lead in the AL East that they pretty much put the brakes on in September, and thats why they failed to win 90 games. Hmmmm. According to Retro-sheet. The last time the Mets were in First Place at the start of September, 2000, they led with a 79-55 record. The Yanks, 5 games better than the Sox were at 75-56 At the end of the year, the Mets were at 94-68, just a game behind the Braves (7-13 run to start the month can do that) while the Yankees were 87-74, and actually the Sox closed the gap to 2.5 at season's end! Where was this 1998 MFY, or 1986 Mets-esque huge lead? Yup. Another example of Yankee Bias in the media. "Oh the 2000 Yanks weren't THAT BAD! They just were in cruise control to finish the year." Geez, how about they took advantage of their "postseason experience" against two AL squads in the postseason for (essentially in the Mariners case) the first time and a Met team that benifited from no Braves in the NLCS and the clock striking midnight for the Outfield of Timo, Benny and Jay.
  6. At the final Milestone Marker of the Regular Season (Labor Day Weekend) This is how the races look NL East Should be wrapped up shortly by the Mets The Marlins are now back at .500 and are a half game in back of the Phillies NL Central Cardinals at 73-62 are starting to put some distance against the sputtering Reds. The lead is now 6 games, and Magic Number is 21. Astros pick up a game and are a game behind the Reds NL West Still a race, and even the Giants have a pulse! Padres are 3 games behind the 73-63 Dodgers, Giants are 5 and a half out NL Wild Card Believe it or not, EVERYONE is still mathmatically in the race! Well the Pirates number is 10 and they are 16.5 games out. Padres at 70-66 lead by a Game and a half over the Phillies. Marlins are 2 back, Reds and Giants 2 and a half. Astros 3.5, Braves 5, D-Backs 6 and Rockies 7 Considering the records of all involved, anyone who calls it a great race (I'm looking at you Baseball Tonight) should be banged with a mallet! AL East Yankees at 81-54 are pulling away now with a 9 game lead and Magic Number at 18. Be the first time since 1956, 50 years, that two New York teams finished in first in their respective regular season races. AL Central Tigers, 84-52 as of this moment, are leading the Central by 5 over the White Sox and Twins by 5.5 Their sputtering and the Sox and Twins Wild Card race actually slowed their Magic Number push! Its standing at 22 AL West The A's at 79-57 are holding firm to their 8 game lead over the Angels. Interestingly enough, even THEY have a lower Magic Number than the Tigers, 19! That makes it 4 Divisions that could be clinched before the Tigers clinch. AL Wild Card Now we are talking classic style pennant race! 79-57 White Sox are CLINGING to a half game lead over the 78-57 Twins. Both teams though are starting to pull away from the rest of the pack as the Red Sox are 6 and a half back, Angels 8 back and Blue Jays are 8 and a half back.
  7. Marlins are a half game back of the Phils, but even in the loss column, which means that they currently share the tragic number, for the division, of 11

  9. Can't find the old thread, but I can't believe this shirt exists I'd hope that the original sales of that actually went to whatever charity Garth was promoting (still does it, not sure of the name off hand) at the time
  10. Heh! Thats Romans 10:9 There is a story in Bad Guys Won where a guy's wife got a card signed by Teufel and thought Timmy was hitting on her by saying "Room 109"
  11. ScarletKnight41 wrote: What I would suggest for 2007 and beyond is that 1) posters who wish to do KTEs volunteer for the duty; and 2) the poster be assigned one team for the whole season. Ideally, he/she can specify whether he wants a division rival (which would entail 6 KTE's, an original one and updates throughout the season) or a nondivision rival (2 KTE's for National League teams and 1 for Interleague rivals). This way the person writing the KTE for a particular team would really know that rival well by the end of the season. Not a bad idea. Kind of like Adopt-A-Prospect! Maybe there should be a seperate folder as well perhaps?
  12. And this time Wickman gets the job done! 3-1 Braves and we will see you Monday for Mets-Braves
  13. cooby wrote: ="SteveJRogers"]I'm thinking 2007 should have a KTE rotation, split up each series between 5-8 posters or something like that. No. Wait, you don't mean 5-8 posters doing each series, do you? You mean just 5-8 posters handling all the KTE throughout the year. Yup. In a rotation format. With "Spot Starters" ready for Pinch-Posting duties during the year
  14. Scratch that, its 3-1 Then again the Phils are the team where "Everybody HITS!" Remeber that guy, a few years back a Phan just had a T-Shirt, I have no clue what the chant was or anything, just a guy trying to get his Andy Warhol time
  15. And the Phillie Pen blinks first! 2-1 Braves with 1 out in the 11th! As of this second, Howard can only tie the game in the bottom frame!
  16. AND HE'S STRANDED! Ryan Howard due to lead off Bottom of 11th!
  17. Winning RISP with one out for Randall Simon
  18. We go to extra frames!
  19. Ryan Howard Ks! one away
  20. After an 8-7 first game, the second game is all tied up at 1 in the Bottom of 9th!
  21. Yup. I'm trying to find one where the glove is right in front, just before going into his delivery. Ah well
  22. Darn! Can not google a good shot of what I'm talking about. Basically camera focuses straight on Pettitte's face, the brim is lowered, really making the long face and nose stand out and the glove is right in front of his face, almost identical to Clemens' glare
  23. SwitchHitter wrote: How did Pettitte get the name "rat-face"? I really wanna know. I keep seeing it here and wondering so I figured I might as well ask. He has a rodent-esque look to the face, long nose, thin long face. I think its also based on national broadcast's overuse of his focused glare while getting the sign from the backstop.
  24. Lidge LOST his closer role? To whom?
