  1. Welcome back Cliff Floyd from the DL!
  2. I like the fact that I didn't go OH F*** S*** when I didn't see Reyes SS in the leadoff spot! Though I'd appreciate not seeing Wright for a game or two as well
  3. Pair of closers

I'm rooting for the Braves to kick the snot out of the Phillies this weekend and put a crimp in their wild card hopes. Amen to that. Considering the way the Phils handled us recently, I'd hate to face them in an NLCS matchup
  5. BTW, the inn that served as the exterior of The Strafftord is on the web: http://www.wayburyinn.com/ Maybe not as famous as Boston's Bull & Finch Pub (but then again they've gone overboard with their Cheers connection) but I'm sure it gets it's fair share of gawkers and tourists
  6. ="Yancy Street Gang"]The magic number is 14. Vermont, the 14th state And thats all folks for the non-original states! 13 original colonies, aka your Northeast Corridor are next!
  7. It is now 11

  9. metirish wrote: Hardly anything wrong with Wilpon being a Dodger freak, Koufax being the great friend and all,Wilpon is a great owner IMO. True, but I was deeply troubled by the lack of reigning boos in 2000 when that fake, phony fraud Tommy Lasorda threw out the first ball at Shea for a World Series game. I still have nightmares about 1988! Plus no Yankee-Hating Met fan should ever habor anything but ill will to those who fled to California, specifically those who hoodwink others the way the Dodgers did to the Giants. In essence, the Dodger franchise in recent years are finally getting the cumupance they deserve for the entire O'Malley reign! I hope the Angels take over LA and Los Angeles gets to see EXACTLY why they were called 'Dem Bums back in the 20's and 30's.
  10. Edgy DC wrote: ]Yup. I'd rather have Asshead Clemens than Wells Clemens will at least do something nutty if he doesn't have it, and stay in the game. Wells is liable to quit right there in mid game! I'm going to disagree. On all counts? Unless you can say that getting ejected in 1990 (IIR the correct year) early in at ALCS game was on purpose and are taking McNamara's side on the 1986 Game 6 issue, I don't see any examples such as Wells' last postseason game. Clemens may be a roid rager, but he ain't a quitter
  11. Course I hate the Dodgers so much that it pains me that Wilpon is such a Dodger freak, to the point where the new stadium is echoing Ebbetts and Jackie Robinson's name has been floated around through the years (not just in recent days) as a possible name for the place. LET IT GO! ITS BEEN ALMOST 50 YEARS! THEIR AGE HAS COME AN GONE! ITS OUR TURN NOW! ehem... Okay, better go back to watching the game, but one of these days I'm really going to go on a treatise about the Dodgers!
  12. Am I the only one that wishes the Mets and Stros had a more meaningfull rivalry? I mean, they ARE our expansion Bros?
  13. I wonder if the place were Cooters was is still a Scores-esque establishment?
  14. SwitchHitter wrote: Big Q! Hey we still have 1986 NLCS over you! Sadly, I don't think any of this years Mets are ready for a 4am fight with police at whatever the equivilant of Cooters is these days in Houston...

  16. I'm thinking 2007 should have a KTE rotation, split up each series between 5-8 posters or something like that. I'm thinking about doing a complete KTE for all 7 other postseason teams, hopefully those will be up (or at least the Met's opponent in the NLDS, hey Game 5 FINALLY is at Shea this year!) before the Mets play their first game
  17. Here are your remaining KTE assignments: September 1-3 @ HOU rpackrat September 4-6 vs. ATL HahnSolo September 7-10 vs. LAD Diamond Dad September 11-13 @ FLA PatchyFogg September 15-17 @ PIT GYC September 18-21 vs. FLA The Big O September 22-25 vs. WSH valadius September 26-28 @ ATL Centerfield September 29-October 1 @ WSH KC
  18. Willets Point wrote: They year was 2000. Hopes for the Mets were high. Then they went into St. Louis and got swept by the Cardinals starting a horrible 7-13 run and ending the Mets hopes of winning the NL East. Of course it turned out better at the end of the month as the Mets returned to winning ways to take the Wild Card and then on to the NL Pennant. And we did stick it right back to the Cards! That was sweet actually. Great October, well untill the last week...

  20. I'm not sure what prompted me wondering about it, but I was talking to a friend about this, and we've figured that, at least in NY pro sports, that the 1986 NL East clincher at Shea may have been the last time the audience rushed onto the field, for any reason. NLCS in Houston WS, Horses and security were able to keep fans at bay. This would be the same for the 1988 NLEast clincher, and all Yankee clinchers at the Stadium during their run While I agree, its a darn good thing that the "tradition" has ceased (Chris Chambliss never did touch home plate (or 3rd base for that matter) after his walk off 1976 ALCS homer, not to mention Pete Flynn's headache the next morning after the 86 Divisional clincher) but I kind of feel a coolness about the fact that Shea's faithfull could be the last MLB audience to have a mass rush of the playing field.
