  1. Apparently in response to pledges for WFMU, they take requests, and somebody requested "Meet the Mets," which they performed. A friend just emailed it to me...the questions are: 1. Newsworthy or just news to me? 2. Anybody need the MP3?

I know, but by the same token, I have a real tough time giving anything less than 3 to Pedro tonight. The strong-start-after-a-loss is HUGE, and he was lights-out with the exception of the 1st inning solo homer. Wasn't his fault it went to extras (giving people like Bradford the chance to earn pts). Without the extras, would've been a 4.5 - 5 point performance for Pedro.
  3. For the 5/3 game -- no love for Mr. Heilman (2 perfect relief innings). I see him left off a ballot, and given pts 1/3 and 1/2 of what Bradford (also 2 scorless relief innings) got. Does the timing of the relief innings change their value? My inclination is to say no, but curious as to what people think.
  4. This one is gonna be a little tough. Martinez 3 Delgado 2.75 Heilman 1.25 Bradford 1.25 Chavez 1.25 Sanchez .5
  5. Mike Gonzalez is a career 1.000 hitter. Yikes.
  6. Edgy DC wrote: Probably not the way to look at it. Well, that is true. I could see him getting the GW RBI in the 12th, he's due up 4th.
  7. Not a lot left in the Pittsburgh 'pen. Gonzalez is the 6th reliever, and he's due up 3rd next inning. Only 1 reliever (Ryan Vogelsong) left.
  8. With his hitting to go along with the defense, he's making Jose Valentin look particularly bad. And particularly useless.
  9. Bonus baseball, here we come. Strange move by Jim Tracy, putting the new pitcher batting 9th with the pitcher's spot due up 1st in the top of the 10th.
  10. Reyes not looking good, twice making big outs with 2 men on. 7 stranded through 4 innings.

  12. Pedro sets down 7 in a row after the homer. 5 Ks.

  14. I don't think Clemens would actually sign with the Mets anyway, so it's mostly moot. Any discussions they'd have with him would presumably only to try to drive the price up. But regardless, NO. He's the only untouchable player for the Mets, now that Rocker is out of the league. They'd sign Larry Jones first.
  15. Alay Soler now a Binghampton Met. From Adam Rubin's Daily News Blog: ]Cuban defector Alay Soler, who went 2-0 with a 0.64 ERA in five starts for St. Lucie, has been promoted to Double-A Binghamton. Special assistant Tony Bernazard said Soler hit 94 mph his last outing. It had been in the upper-80s this spring. The Mets might face a difficult decision with Soler after the season. He will make at least $800,000 in 2007 unless Mets brass tries to pass him through waivers, which would allow other teams to claim him.

  17. Johnny Dickshot wrote: Not to speak for YSG, but he had a walk, a SB and two nice fielding plays. Me, I'm denying Wright any beer till he stops whiffing and popping up so often. Ok, forgot about the fielding plays.
  18. Yancy -- curious as to why Wright gets Schaefer points from you for the 5/2 game. What am I missing?
  19. LoDuca 1.5 Julio .75 Beltran .25
  20. Solo homers aren't really helpful when you're down 5. Well, a little helpful.
  21. TransMonk wrote: Wright's still in the dugout...initially on the TV broadcast, they thought it was Wright, but just Willie. Even if he wasn't tossed, might not be the worst thing for him to have the rest of the game off. Put Woodward in batting 9th.
  22. TransMonk wrote: Wright gets tossed for arguing balls and strikes. Willie out to argue. OE: Willie got tossed...he still argued. Was Wright actually tossed? Radio guys thought just Willie.
  23. We bring in the lefty to face Ward, and Frank Robinson counters by pinch-hitting Jose Guillen. OE: ...who proceeds to hit an RBI groundout. 4-1 bad guys.
