    He had some decent minor league numbers last year, and was 2-1 with a 2.33 ERA and 0.93 WHIP in 7 starts for the Giants last year. He's projected as a future #1 starter. But still...

    I can see a problem with grooving a 1-2 fastball to Alou, and that being Glavine's fault, but still, no more intentional walks. He has **1** homer all year. When he's hitting, maybe then we can start walking him again. I'm pissed.

    Bonds is hitting .229...the intentional walk here is stupid.

    There'd be no Milledge, no way. Let him play half a season at triple A before we get to the idea of calling him up. It's not unnecessary delay -- it's just common sense. As for Diaz, I can see the point, but what's not figured into that equation is, of course, that you'd have Nady in center and Diaz in right. I wonder how many runs that defense might cost us?

    No WFAN gameday audio forces me to the Giants broadcast, where we learn through the Felipe Alou interview that Ray Durham isn't available tonight (irritated tendon in left hamstring).

    On second thought, I think you cursed my gameday audio. I listen to the 3rd period of hockey and the post-game without a problem, but now it cuts out just in time for the Mets. Aargh.

    Hockey post-game just ended. Mets will be on WFAN next. Game doesn't start for another 15 minutes.

    Giants 1B Lance Niekro is the only active major leaguer with an uncle in the Hall of Fame. He's Joe's son.

    Beltran has played, just not in the field. He wouldn't have pinch-hit unless they thought he would be back sooner than a DL stint would take. No reason to assume lack of foresight or incompetence. I'm sure Beltran would be playing if able. Today's his birthday. Hope Jorge doesn't go wild at the party.

    vs. the Giants: Mon - Glavine Tue - Trachsel Wed - Bannister Thursday is an off day, before we go to Turner Field. The off day lets us skip Zambrano, with the rotation setting up vs. the Braves as: Fri - Pedro Sat - Glavine Sun - Trachsel I sure hope they decide to do this.
