You're right, a fielder's choice can only be scored if a runner advances to first base. Otherwise it's "normal" advancement on a play (without a specific "official" scoring term). And that I don't have a system for, although I think I might incorporate your idea...
  2. Methead wrote: I'd see the difference as : RMU = guy on 2nd moving to 3rd on a grounder to the right side T = guy singles, advancing to 2nd on a throw to the plate I was pretty sure though that guy moving 2nd to 3rd on grounder is advancing on a fielder's choice. Unless he's not forced?
  3. [Yanking this back on topic] Re: Marking the advancement of baserunners. Interesting that you use "T" to mark advancement on a throw. I was always under the impression that the official term for that was "runners moved up" (and hence the abbreviation RMU). My love of scoring came from a love of boxscores as a kid -- and that term I learned from the NY Times boxscores, which is the only place I see that line in the boxscore used. I can't seem to find an official definition though.
  4. Re: the Philly game, 5/9/06 -- Pretty sure that this is the first time I've seen people consistently giving out 10 points despite the fact that we've lost.
  5. soupcan wrote: If a batter hits into an FC with less than two out and reaches base safely doesn't that increase his OBP? So with 2 out if the same batter hits into an FC and he technically becomes an 'LOB' - then it should count toward his OBP. no? No in both cases. OBP is Hits, Walks, HBP / PA. Nothing gained for reaching base on errors/fielder's choices/etc.
  6. cooby wrote: Am I looking at that wrong or is Johnnylavel bidding against himself every few minutes? No -- he placed a "maximum" bid that's somewhere north of the current bid price. When he placed that bid, however, it registers as only as high as needed to take over as "high bidder." Each time someone else bids, his bid increases so that he remains the high bidder. (Unless/until someone goes over his "maximum bid.")

  8. I'm having bad flashbacks to the last time I was at Citizens Bank Park. It was Franco on the mound though, not Heilman.
  9. Oh, I don't like this very much.
  10. Nymr83 wrote: lmao Franco got tossed out of the game! Not very funny given that he's a useful pinch hitter.
  11. metirish wrote: Nady goes deep, Pedro will surely stay in the game now... Only if Matsui gets on and he can bunt him over. Pedro at 102 pitches.
  12. That should get us a little closer.
  13. Oh geez. It's not a good typing day for me.

  15. ="Johnny Dickshot"]Is that so? I figured they have him up as an inbetween guy like Fortunato, until Gonzalez arrives. I think so. If I'm reading Rob Neyer's transations primer right: ]When you hear that a player is "out of options," that means he's been on the 40-man roster during three different seasons, beginning with his fourth as a pro, and to be sent down again he'll have to clear waivers Bell has been in the majors in 2004 and 2005, so this is definetly his 3rd season on the 40 man. He's been a Mets farmhand since 1998. Hard to belive, but he's been at Norfolk since 2002.
  16. Whoops. Yes, Lidle is still there. After careful double-checking, only teams without ex-Mets are the White Sox, Red Sox, and Twins
  17. Edgy DC wrote: We'll cross that bridge in time. Nobody has to get DFA'd It could well be Bell going right down. Doesn't Bell need to be exposed to waivers to go down? This is his 3rd season on the 40-man roster, and this is year #9 as a pro...
  18. My guess is Feliciano, simply because of Oliver's ability to go the multiple innings. I'm all about getting Heath Bell to the majors, but I'm not so sure this promotion was a good idea. We're locked into having 7 relievers, unless the Mets are going to expose Bell to waivers (no chance of that).
  19. The Philadelphia Phillies are the only national league team without an ex-Met on their roster. Aside from the obvious, Endy Chavez also played some games as a Phillie last year. OE: see below, forgot one, nice catch Edgy.
  20. Yancy Street Gang wrote: This thread is reminding me of "Cowboy Joe" West. Is he still umping? Yep.
  21. Yeah, I know blue hats are preferred, but I was under the impression that a mugshot with Mets uniform (even if it's those stupid black hats) is better than no mugshot at all.
  22. Way, way too early for Davidoff to call this deal the second-worst in Mets history.
  23. I'm a little surprised by a couple of the results. Heilman in particular seems too low, especially considering who's ahead of him -- ie. Franco, whose April contributions were basically one heroic homer, and a couple of hits here and here.
  24. Johnny Dickshot wrote: Gotta say it -- I'm not a big fan of Wagner myself. I think I'd be a lot more tolerant of this sort of stunt if he was not blowing as many saves. Yeah, I know it's early. But he makes a lot money, etc. [insert the points made by others here].
