  2. Just in case you were wondering, Yom Kippur falls on the Monday between the end of the regular season and the start of the playoffs.
  3. I'll take Steve Schmoll.
  4. No kidding. With Ramon, at least a possibility existed that you might get some hits, occasionally. There's gotta be somebody else besides DiFelice out there for backup catcher...
  5. Wasn't Close in the '94 jersey?

  8. ="ScarletKnight41"]The caught stealing is extra important - Milledge couldn't make the catch and there's a ground rule double with two outs. From where I was sitting, it would've been near impossible for anyone without Jose Reyes-esque speed and some luck to have made that catch.
  9. Yancy Street Gang wrote: That will leave 6 states unrepresented. I haven't figured out which ones yet. Yancy, your 6 missing states are Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Vermont, and Wyoming.

  14. Are any of the minor league teams in a pennant race? Could be that they don't want to lose somebody for the playoff run but once that's over he can go/
  15. I'd still rather play the Tigers. And I still have more confidence in Maine than Trachsel. Oliver Perez pitched a gem for Norfolk last night, apparently.
  16. Johnny Dickshot wrote: So, OK. Let';s say we take the lead here and hold on to win. Would this be one of those instances where they'd award to W to Williams and not Hernandez? They'd have to think about it. It'd be pretty bad not to.
  17. Shea DJ playing songs from '86 tonight. Nice touch.
  18. Dave Williams is the 3rd (?) #32 this year for the Mets. What's the record for number of different players wearing one uniform number in a single year?
  19. First time I've ever seen this at Shea. Middle of the 8th, sponsored by XM Radio. "Fans, please get up out of your seats and join us in singing along to the 8th inning singalong sponsored by XM Radio!" And what do they play? Sweet Caroline. And what did everybody do? Sing along. Loudly. Like the Mets created this idea. Sheep blindly following what the scoreboard says to do. Baaaaa. Attention Morons: We DON'T NEED ANYBODY ELSE'S TRADITION!! This is worse than the idiots doing "roll call" at Shea. The idea is intriguing -- a sing-along could be fun -- but how about we get our OWN FREAKING SONG. Suggestion: Glory Days, Bruce Springsteen. Fun, well-known, upbeat, easy chorus, baseball content, and not somebody else's freakin' tradition. [/rant]

  21. Bump with Pedro on the DL and Heath Bell back for stint #4 with the Mets this year.
  22. Elster88 wrote: Prob since we haven't played them yet this year. Seems strange that you could be playing a team for the first time during a year on August 18. Rockies are the last "new" team we face this year.
  23. Friday and Sunday, which figures. No Pedro (assuming he's not put on the DL), no '86 celebration.
