  1. Starting Pitcher Williams Thought if I just stuck him up there nobody would notice that we forgot about him being recalled too. [Thanks again Edgy for keeping up the table, I will confirm that HTMLing it is a pain].
  2. Doing some updating of a Mets list or two that I keep around for reference and I stumble across what I've got to figure is a record. Pending Phil Humber getting into a game, there will be no fewer than 10 (!) uniform numbers that were issued to more than one player during this 2006 season. 20 - Victor Diaz, Shawn Green 22 - Xavier Nady, Michael Tucker 25 - Kazuo Matsui, Pedro Feliciano 32 - Jeremi Gonzalez, Eli Marrero, Dave Williams 34 - Jorge Julio, Mike Pelfrey 36 - Henry Owens, Kelly Stinnett 39 - Pedro Feliciano, Roberto Hernandez 43 - Bartolome Fortunato, Royce Ring 49 - Roberto Hernandez, Phil Humber (pending) 59 - Alay Soler, Guillermo Mota I'm pretty sure that's a record.

  7. For 100 Wins, the Mets need to go: 13-10 or better.

  12. ="Yancy Street Gang"]I agree. I'd much rather see Stinnett than DiFelice. And I'd prefer Edgardo Alfonzo over Anderson Hernandez, but I'm clearly not going to get my way on that one. Who's worth exposing on the 40-man roster to get Fonzie to the majors?

  14. With our win in the first game, the Washington Nationals have been eliminated from potentially winning the division.

  16. Yes, you've all picked up on the typos. The last 2 games of the NLDS, not 3 are "if necessary." There's a typo for the NLCS, there's a travel day between Gms. 5 and 6. Trying this again: NLDS Series 1 Game 1 Tuesday, October 3 Game 2 Thursday, October 5 Game 3 Saturday October 7 Game 4 Sunday, October 8, if necessary Game 5 Monday, October 9, if necessary Series 2 Game 1 Wednesday, October 4 Game 2 Thursday, October 5 Game 3 Saturday October 7 Game 4 Sunday, October 8, if necessary Game 5 Monday, October 9, if necessary NLCS Game 1 Wednesday, October 11 Game 2 Thursday, October 12 Game 3 Saturday, October 14 Game 4 Sunday, October 15 Game 5 Monday, October 16, if necessary Game 6 Wednesday, October 18, if necessary Game 7 Thursday, October 19, if necessary World Series Game 1 Saturday October 21 Game 2 Sunday October 22 Game 3 Tuesday, October 24 Game 4 Wednesday, October 25 Game 5 Thursday, October 26, if necessary Game 6 Saturday, October 28, if necessary Game 7 Sunday, October 29, if necessary

  18. Cliff is still my favorite Met. I'm pulling hard for him. I could see him as a backup outfielder with Milledge, Beltran and Green as the starters next year.

  20. Looks like Pelfrey is not being promoted yet. From The Virginian Pilot: ]On to Port St. Lucie, Fla. Rookie pitcher Mike Pelfrey is headed to the Mets' spring training complex in Port St. Lucie, Fla., to receive treatment for an ailing back. Tides trainer Brian Chicklo said the injury was "very minor."
  21. Yes, I think Milledge makes it and bumps Tucker out. The 25th man will probably be Tucker/A. Hernandez/Maine. Unless of course they leave Trachsel out.
  22. Bannister, Humber, Pelfrey, Williams, Milledge called up. Ledee and Stinnett had their contracts purchased. Steve Schmoll to the 60-day DL to make room for Ledee/Stinnett on the 40-man roster. That makes our 60-day DL total 5: Duaner, Castro, Schmoll, Padilla, and Victor Z.
  23. ScarletKnight41 wrote: David Wright deserves a sip of beer tonight for sparing us from the indignity of being no-hit by the Evil Braves. Not a lot, mind you. But a sip is appropriate. I'm going to disagree. It wasn't a "prevent the no-hitter" situation from yesterday -- it was the 2nd, not the 7th or 8th inning -- and he got throwing out trying to stretch. I also think you reversed Bell and Ring's points. Bell: 1.2 innings, including coming in with bases-loaded, 1 out and allowing no runs. Ring goes 2 scorless, but he gets double the points?
