  2. Thanks for the updates. I caught the DMB but we were only able to identify the song as Audioslave for Green. Bradford's been using that song for more than a month now. Yellow Submarine was used on Wednesday, but only because it was "Beatles Night." Any idea as to what song they used for when Bannister came to bat? It sounds very much like it's a hair-metal type band from the 80s but I can't ID it. It's one of the generic "you haven't chosen anything so we use this" songs.
  3. Bannister's return pushes us to a season-high 13 pitchers. If Oliver Perez is indeed starting on Saturday more moves are coming. Dave Williams certainly wouldn't deserve it but he could be headed to waivers. The other feasible option would be to send Bannister back to Norfolk immediately after the game. Darren Oliver certainly is well rested, having not pitched since August 14 (that's 10 days now). All these pitching moves make it that much harder to find some days off for our regulars. It's been a month since Wright had one, and Jose Reyes hasn't had one since the all-star break.

  6. ="metirish"]I have nothing against DiFelice I do. He seems like a nice enough guy but 6 major league hits since 2003 is a big problem.
  7. Yes, Castro is done for the year. According to the Mets.com roster, Ledee is gone.
  8. Fri v. PHI - Brian Bannister Sat v. PHI - Oliver Perez, probably Sun v. PHI - John Maine El Duque is "not injured" but will skip a start.
  9. Ramon Castro has been moved to the 60-day DL. Additionally, if they are going to pitch Bannister on Friday and Oliver Perez on Saturday as reported, Lastings Milledge might be temporarily reassigned to Norfolk.
  10. Cardinals are in a tight division race. I'm guessing this game matters quite a bit to Cincinatti.

Listen, I'm not Jewish, but I do have kids, and I think this is an excellent point. There just are not enough high profile people out there of any denomination willing to show their faith. What does his religion have to do with being a role model to kids (??)

Let me tell you, this was a MAJOR pain in the ass. Probably some fans who gave up/couldn't get there. That's like my worst nightmare. The 7 has been very unreliable this summer, but fortunately, it's mostly happened with the Mets out of town. At least you were stuck at a spot where a transfer to the E is easy. Not exactly. We were stuck behind at the Hunterspoint stop. Had to walk about a half-mile but caught a cab with 3 other fans. Turns out I know Queens better than I thought!
  15. SteveJRogers wrote: Met fans tonight are being entertained by Beatle tribute band 1964 Uhh, "entertained" is a very, shall we say, "liberal" description. I'd put it somewhere past "unfortunately subject to the sounds of" --- Attendance was listed at 49,000+ but was very clearly less than last night, which had a similar listed number. Why? The #7 train broke down at about 6:15 this evening at the Court House Square stop. No trains between 74th Street and Grand Central for a while. Let me tell you, this was a MAJOR pain in the ass. Probably some fans who gave up/couldn't get there. --- Strange coincidence: you can add me to the list of people who's only MLB playoff game was 2000 NLCS Game 4.

I don't think actually hearing the music was part of the experience for many I thought the baselines were lined with speakers as well (??).

  18. I'm pleased to report that the Curly Shuffle replaced Sweet Caroline tonight in the 8th inning.
  19. I don't know how much the Field Boxes will be, but I'm guessing that unless you have a full-season or weekday plan account for those seats that they'll be near-impossible to obtain. The info was taken directly from the letter I got with my postseason invoice (we have the Tuesday/Friday and Sunday plans). I think the Division Series ticket prices are set by MLB too. If I recall correctly, net reciepts from DS games 1-3, LCS games 1-4 and World Series games 1-4 go directly to the players pool, which is the pot from which playoff shares come from. It's tough for me to complain about prices. Playoff tickets for your favorite team for a fan like me are the type of thing that it's near-impossible to put a price on. Further, I don't think that they're that far out of the realm of affordability-- if you're willing to make a sacrifice. It means less concerts, movies, going out to eat, driving a less fancy car, whatever -- but for the playoffs, spending a greater part of the entertainment budget in one spot doesn't seem so bad. I paid my invoice immediately.

  21. Glavine was originally scheduled to pitch tonight (Tuesday, 8/22) but the off day on Monday allowed them to bump everybody up a day. The rotation this week: Tue v. STL: Maine Wed v. STL: Trachsel Thu v. STL: Williams Fri v. PHI: El Duque Sat v. PHI: TBA Paging Mr. Bannister, please pick up the white courtesy phone. Either that or Darren Oliver may finally get a 2006 start.
  22. Lindsay Green.
  23. Ring to Norfolk, Juan Perez DFAed to make room for Mota. Victor Diaz DFAed to make room for Green, no move on the 25-man roster yet, but it figures to be Ledee getting waived.
