  1. Well that sucked.
  2. Shelton is not on the Tigers postseason roster.
  3. Roll the mouse over the pitcher's name for the running total. Or look at the bottom of the boxscore, where the total is updated at the end of the half inning. (This is for MLB.com gameday)
  4. Williams is not on the roster. The pitching decision will likely be a function of the score in the series. If we are down 1-2, we'd probably go with Maine in Game 4 and we'd probably go with Glavine on short rest in Game 5. If we are up 2-1, I predict Oliver Perez will take the ball. If we win 3-0 we don't need to worry.
  5. I'm curious too. Was he booed? I had to keep Joe Morgan muted to maintain sanity.
  6. I'd like to think so, and I hate to be the pessimist here, but NLDS Game 1 is not equivalent to WS Game 1.
  7. FWIW, that column has the byline "As told to Burton Rocks" in the post.I believe I read somewhere that Rocks is the ghostwriter for the book Billy's working on.
  8. Yes, relay throw was Valentin.
  9. I'll be there. The wind is usually a lot worse in the upper deck than the Mezzanine from my experience. NWS says a low of 48 tonight, so bundle up.
  10. It was fun, execept for Dan Shaugnessy talking about walking on the logos painted into the grass. Um, Dan, keep your freakin feet off of our playoff logos. Thanks.
  11. I view George Steinbrenner the same way I think of Britney Spears, or rubbernecking delays on the highway. If people stopped watching, they'd go away. Unfortunately, people aren't smart enough to do that.
  12. I'm sometimes just a little bit sad that because of my focus on the Mets games, I feel as if I have an inadequate idea of what's happening in the other 3 series. But then I remind myself that I waited 6 years for this, and many more prior to 1999.

  14. ="Zvon"] Someone find out who this babe is---I think its love at first sight. I don't know her, but she seats in the Field Boxes, first base side, somewhere between boxes 49 and 79.
  15. Delgado 3 Wright 2.5 Maine 1.5 Floyd 1 Heilman 1 Feliciano .5 Bradford .5 How can Wagner get points but not Heilman?
  16. Thanks! (Going to vote for Game 1)
  17. The time slots Saturday are 1:00 (ESPN2), 4:00 (FOX) and 7:30 (FOX). If four games need to be played Saturday, this is how I project the schedule shaking out: 1:00 - Padres at Cardinals 4:00 - Mets at Dodgers; Twins at Athletics (split national) 7:30 - Yankees at Tigers.
  18. Where did Delgado's homer land, anyway? I watched the replay on ESPN and on Mets.com and I can't see it. I missed it at the game because, well, we were going nuts. It was announced as 470 feet...did it clear the batter's eye? I don't think I've ever seen anyone do that.
  19. Crowd was as loud as I've heard it in quite some time, especially during the first inning. Never got quite that loud again but they were pretty good. Unfortunate Yankees suck chant here and there (like after they ran that commercial on the Diamondvision where Tommy Lasorda tells us that October is the time to root against the yankees). Pedro was in the dugout, shown on the screen between innings. Cheers. He tries to duck away, but Ray Ramirez convinces him to come back up, he waves to the crowd (doing that Pedro "point" thing he does). Floyd got a curtain call of sorts, he was shown inside a big heart during the "Kiss Cam" between innings on the Diamonvision. He's put up, lots of cheering, he turns to see what's on the scoreboard and realizes that it's him. Tips the cap. I don't think I've ever seen Delgado show so much emotion on the field. I don't think he could've high-fived David Wright any harder after that bomb of a homer. Huge fist pump after the single in the 7th. To answer a question from earlier, yes, they did player introductions, but before the TV coverage started. El Duque limped out there for them, but then they didn't introduce him...and after finishing the rest of the players introduced him (the announcer seemed to be reading from the roster sheet directly). Serves Fox right for getting the rain delay after putting the MFYs in primetime again.
  20. Johnny Dickshot wrote: The addition of Ring, btw, costs Mike DiFelice a roster slot. That might be the only silver lining here.
  21. Dodgers lefty Joe Beimel in "jeopardy" for postseason; he cut his hand on broken glass in his hotel room. Story here
  22. But Edgy...I don't care what the stats say. He's a WINNER. 4 Rings! The intangibles he brings!
  23. Wow, Ken Rosenthal, that was terrible. "Derek, 5-5 tonight, how locked in were you?" "You heard the crowd chanting your name, you heard the chants of 'M-V-P,' how much were you thinking about possibly winning your first MVP award?" Gee, Ken, could you come up with even better softball questions?
  24. I'm consoling myself with my Tigers hat and Yankees Suck T-shirt... ...while getting the stuff together for the game tomorrow.
  25. Keep talking about football, Joe. I'm getting ready to drive over to the Bronx right now, I've got my garrote ready.
