Black hats? Booooooooooooo. (In all seriousness, nice pic.)

They've already burned Ring, Bell, Meredith and Linebrink. We used Schoeneweis. Advantange = us.

LoDuca, Valentin, Beltran -- yes, you all really did need those RBIs. Shawn Green, your turn next.

    LoDuca 1B? Oh, wait, nevermind.

The Mets have 3 Ex-Padres. If you know them without looking it up, I'd be impressed.

Yancy Street Gang wrote: It's funny that only 13 guys have pitched more innings than Glavine has, and people are still debating whether or not he's a "Met." I agree that there shouldn't be a debate. Of course he's a Met, but aside from Mets fans, I don't think many people (including the Hall of Fame Plaque Committee) will remember him as such.

One would have to figure that $30 million figure includes not only the production but also the promise of the extra promotion associated with the eventual A-Rod-breaking-the-HR-record nonsense.

If it's going to happen at home, Glavine needs to get wins in his next two starts (at LA, vs. PIT). After that, his next two starts will be on the road in Milwaukee and Chicago. Of course, he could also delay it a while more...but let's hope not.

More roster moves coming Sunday and Monday as Perez and Sosa will be activated to start the next two games, respectively. Obvious moves would seemingly be to demote Pelfrey and Williams (who would have to clear waivers) but I suppose they could keep Pelfrey in the 'pen and drop Alomar back to AAA.

LoDuca was using Smoke on the Water (Deep Purple) tonight. Carlos Beltran shook up his music ever-so-brielfy during the last homestand, but appears to have gone back to using his regular song for every at-bat (for the last home series before the ASB, it had only been used the first time up). Anyone know what Gotay and Milledge are using?

There's a doubleheader and an off day in between, but right now Glavine would be projected to pitch August 5 (the Sunday game at Wrigley). Fingers crossed for you that he goes on the 4th instead.

Official Mets policy says no ticket needed if the kid can go under the turnstile. Height of turnstile is 32 inches. Bags, food, drinks in sealed plastic bottles (no cans, no glass) are all fine. Don't think they'd hassle you about the stroller if it's small enough to fit under your seat. (The Mets have one of the most liberal polices about allowing the oustside food/drink in that I've seen). Also of note: they are (finally) running #7 Express Trains back to Manhattan after the game. --- Going tonight as well. Hope they get a good crowd with the Chavez bobblehead and all. Several Friday crowds this year have seemed smaller than I'd have expected.

Smells suspiciously like "making a move for the sake of making a move."

="RealityChuck"]1. What manager (or managers -- there may be more than one) managed an all-star team without ever managing in the post season? Alou and Showalter both managed the all-star game before managing in the postseason, but they both got there years later. ]3. (easy one) What all-star game didn't have either of the previous year's winning managers managing? '95.
