  1. Friday June 22: Tom Glavine thrown out at home, Mark Kotsay with Bobby Crosby relay. Going from first on a Reyes "triple."* 3rd out of the inning; Mets up 8-1 at the time. *Reyes had third easily (regardless of the decision to throw home) but it gets scored officially as a double.
  2. According to press releases, $277,000 was raised by the auction. On SNY's pre-game show, it was mentioned that the Schoneweis pitching clinic went for $19,000 (and included a pair of Duke basketball tickets to boot).
  3. Small crowd for a Friday night. Fans got a ncie Tom-my Glav-ine (clap clap clapclapclap) going as he was taking his warmups in the 9th. Was *really* nice to see a freakin win again. Felt like a turnaround game. Beltran could certainly be back. Green hitting (against a lefty, too) was very good to see.
  4. Edgy DC wrote: This really is the first trip to Shea for A's since Willie Mays was a Met. I shouldn't care but I do. Not exactly. First in a game against the Mets.
  5. Rich Harden was activated when Bradley was DFAed but it's not entirely clear when Harden will start (he's not scheduled this turn of the OAK rotation). Oakland's top 2 relievers, Huston Street and Justin Duchscherer are both on the DL.
  6. Well, duh, although that boat's long since sailed, with interleague play having been around 10 years or so. The Rockies of couse wanted the Skanks in town for attendance purposes (they sold out an afternoon game today) but IIRC the Pirates were pissed, as they (along with the Astros) have never had the Yankees at home, while this was Colorado's 2nd time getting them. Look for the Mets to get either the Rangers or White Sox at Shea next year. Possibly both, depending on if we get the 6th interleague series or not (we've only had 5 the past 3 years).
  7. Irony here is that the Rockies specifically requested a visit from the Yankees this year on their schedule.
  8. Delois Guerrera and Fernando Martinez on the "World" roster.
  9. SteveJRogers wrote: Going a week from tonight, going to be in the picnic pavillion as part of the Emerald Society of the NYPD's Pipes & Drums band picnic at Shea. Despite my feelings this morning, next week had better be a STATEMENT WEEK! Kind of weird though, playing back-to-back series vs the Phillies at home before playing at Citizens Bank Park, but ah well. ?? My schedule says it's the Cardinals in town next week.
  10. Acquire him NOW!!! IIRC, it typically takes Bradley a little while in a new place before he goes completely nuts. Decent chance to take for the rest of the year. On the crazy scale, I think he is somewhere crazier than Jose Guillen but not quite as crazy as Carl Everett.

  12. Updates, Updates.... Thanks TransMonk for Ledee's song. Reyes is using new songs for at-bats #1 and 2. The songs for at-bats #3-5 (below) remain the same. Most wanted list: El Duque Carlos Gomez Ruben Gotay I'm still not quite sure what is used for Wright's at-bat #3. I'm fairly confidant that neither Sele nor Feliciano have their own songs. The goal of getting everybody this year...still reachable, I think. Six

6 straight losses at Shea for me. Even in the crappiest of crappy years, I managed to be very lucky and see more wins than losses at Shea. Made those years kinda more tolerable. Strange that in an otherwise fairly good year I've got this kinda situation. Watching the Mets lose in person sucks at least 200% more.
  14. Crowd actually didn't suck tonight, they just didn't have much to cheer about. Delgado got heavily booed for the first time though. Schoenweis, too -- although that was really more Joe Smith's fault. Strange use of relievers this game. The "Vote for LoDuca" thing was completely absent tonight. Strange. I voted like 75 times for him anyway (bored, so I filled out ballots for much of the game).
  15. Going it, I thought Sunday's loss was our worst loss of the year. Guess not. I guess I was glad to see the best pitcher in baseball have his best outing of the year. Woulda been ok, maybe, with a 2-0 or 3-1 loss. But not the steaming pile of crap they put up tonight.

  17. Original plan called for Piazza to beign his rehab assignment Sunday and would be activated in time for the series this weekend. Sadly, his return has been pushed back 2-3 weeks.

  19. Excellent!
  20. Instead of going to the game tonight, which I ordinarily would've done, me and my 8-11 record at Shea this year stayed home. Hmmm...
  21. LoDuca and Ledee both with 2-out RBI tonight. Good sign.
  22. No. Our 6 last year were Wright, Beltran, LoDuca, Reyes (voted to start, DNP - injury), Pedro (DNP - injury), Glavine (DNP).
