  1. He's been out since last summer after having Tommy John surgery so expect more of the usual "I just did it to recover from injury."
  2. I agree. Aside from Cora (who didn't have a lot of PAs), I don't think any non-pitchers were points-worthy.
  3. Crowd has really turned on Gary Matthews Jr. I thought the double-switch bringing him in the game was totally unnecessary, particularly as it worsened defense. Saw only one "I Like Ike" sign but there could've been more. Along with not having a lot of crowd noise, there doesn't seem to be a lot of places in CF to hang banners or signs (or people aren't bringing them like they used to).
  4. Yadier Molina actually steps out and kisses his necklace before every pitch. Seriously. I knew I hated the guy but wow.
  5. In addition to being a bad example and bad for your health, John, you look like a total tool with that jaw full of tobacco when trying to pitch. Spit it out and concentrate dammit.
  6. Same old Maine. 99 pitches in 4 innings. Seriously, John?
  7. How to listen to tonight's game: ESPN (video) WFAN (audio) -- NOT on terrestrial radio, but through MLB.com's Gameday audio. The sync (for me at least) is perfect.
  8. Ryan Ludwick, you've been Frenched.
  9. Santana 3 Valdes 1.2 Meija 1.2 Takahashi 1.2 Nieve 1.2 Igarashi .75 Feliciano .75 Pelfrey .35 Cora .35
  10. That would be pretty big news. Do you have a source on that?
  11. So I missed this game...did anything interesting happen? In all seriousness, Jerry Manuel being outmanaged by Tony LaRussa, after LaRussa gave up on the game, is embarrassing.
  12. Citizens Bank Park is on a semi-permanent ban in our household. Only ballpark where I've ever been (slightly) afraid for my safety while there to see the Mets. Fans at Yankee Stadium II and III come across as having Emily Post-manners in comparison.
  13. Wright .5 Francoeur .5 Barajas .5 Valdes .5 Igarashi .5 Feliciano .5 Nieve .5 Jacobs .25
  14. Wright 2 Bay 1 Valdes 1 Takahashi 1 Meija .5
  15. Maine is also a fine choice as a pinch runner. Using Tatis there was a poor choice. Jacobs loafed it all the way, and turned it on a little bit to ensure he made second. Totally unacceptable, even if chances of a triple were pretty slim.
  16. This game: http://archives.cranepoolforum.net/6600/f14_t6697.shtml
  17. I'd have far less concern about Figueroa if the Mets were keeping Meija in the minors and using him as a starter with an eye towards bringing him up in the second half of the year. I could see one more start for Maine but he should be looking over his shoulder for Pat Misch.
  18. Castillo was actually safe on that play but the point holds that he shouldn't have been stretching it. I was surprised to see Jerry not allow Valdes to go out for a third inning. Seems like an unnecessary over-use of relief pitchers when we were already down 8 runs. Bad, bad game (and apparently it's only get worse here as Nieve and Takahashi fail to impress).
  19. Have no problem with Francoeur (2-3 and a walk) saying as much but I'd have liked to hear from someone who wasn't trying as hard.
  20. If you're heading back towards Ulster County (or points north), you might try taking the Whitestone bridge to the Hutchinson River Parkway. Take the Hutch north to I-684 North, to I-84 West to I-87. Might be an extra 10 miles out of your way but probably gets out out of the city limits as fast as possible.
