  2. If only Philly were an hour closer! (Going Saturday but can't make it down in time for tonight's tilt).
  3. It's certainly the first big game of the year. We haven't seen the Giants yet but with that possible exception, Philadelphia certainly looks like the best team in the league (other than us). I don't think we need to sweep, but certainly take 2 of 3. We have a clear pitching advantage on Sunday and probably a small advantage tonight so yeah, it's a big game.
  4. I should note that you *can* get a hard-copy Media Guide but it'll run you $20. I ordered one that way as an experiment, to see if it showed up faster than the "online access."

Plenty of other teams sent out guides -- or, to at least make sure that extra guides weren't wasted, sent coupons that could be exchanged for a guide, if the plan holder wanted one. I assure you that "going green" in this regard also "saved green."
  7. Just opened ours...and it was broken. I love the box from the '08 season but haven't found a use for it yet. The mousepad from '06 was nice and I still use that every day at work.

John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Not for nothing but many of Gwreck's observations were addressed in the first post, acknowledging the artificialness of the outfield angles and fence heights, etc., I think the thread was more about how the park plays not another opportunity to get snarky on the Wilpons. Fair enough, and I didn't really mean to co-op anyone else's argument or threadjack, just got on a good rant for a little bit there.
  9. I like the size of the park but aside from the ineptitude in promenade stairway construction, I think nothing bothers me more than the outfield wall. I hate the artificial indentation of the wall in right field so the porch can hang over the field. It makes the overhang forced and stupid. I hate the centerfield "tab" that sticks up in front of the Apple. Changing the home run line doesn't make me hate it less. The solution was a more creative plan of where to put the apple, and indeed, earlier plans for the park called for it to be towards the back right corner of the batter's eye. I dislike that the wall is too high. With few exceptions, there's nowhere to make a home-run robbing catch. I dislike the size and prominence of the wall in left field. I like the new park just fine, but it's ok to be honest and say that certain things were screwed up. Unfortunately, this is one of those problems that can't be rectified by adding pictures, banners, renaming parts of the stadium and putting in a museum.
  10. I would rather just have a freakin Media Guide.
  11. So long as Murphy > Frank Catalanotto, I guess that spot on the bench is his.
  12. "an Internet algorithm built by Nielsen Co. that analyzes how people feel about certain things" I translate that to be "bullsh*t."
  13. 7 Floyd 15 Aaron Heilman?
  14. Phils got 2 in the top of the 11th but the Giants are rallying against Nelson in the bottom of the inning now. 2nd and 3rd with 1 out (that's the winning run on 2nd).
  15. Prior was in the draft out of high school but didn't sign (he was drafted by the MFYs) and instead went to USC. That being said, there's no reference that I can recall re: Peterson and the drafting of Prior.
  16. The Gwreck household put a ban on Citizens Bank Park in early 2008 and haven't returned but the rainout robbed us of baseball this week and we are now very much considering it for either Friday night or Saturday. The stupid Philly fans must think their team is good or something, though, as they appear to have very inconveniently purchased all of the tickets (!). Waffling between just sitting in the cheap seats or opening the wallet for something good.
  17. I think you and I may be the only ones. I have already started a small savings fund for 2013 when the game is at Shea.
  18. I really love the All-Star game but this is idiotic. (Cue responses about how the All-Star game is terrible, meaningless, hasn't captured anyone's attention since the '70s, etc...)
  19. Put it in the books, again!
  20. Excellent. Gamecast tells me that just missed being a homer.
  21. I might've been tempted to pinch-hit, but John's going to get the seventh.
  22. First homer the Mets have allowed in a week (!).
