  1. Very strange timing here. The U2 tour date in Miami was announced in mid July 2010, prior to the announcement of the 2011 MLB schedule.
  2. No offense to Seawolf who (I presume) didn't invent it, but "Twitterverse" is possibly the dumbest internet-related made-up word ever, except of course for the utterly moronic "Blogosphere."

  4. I'd also have better seats.
  5. I say it's about time we reissued no. 8. I wonder if Charlie's departure will free that one up.
  6. Got 11 of 13. Before looking at the teams, my first guess would have been Matt Stairs. Turns out he's homered against 29 teams but has never gone yard against the Mets. Beltran is also at 29 (never against KC).
  7. Michael Cuddyer
  8. Travis Hafner?

  10. G-Fafif on the ESPN Mets Blog on Mays and the WS Trophy here in NY.

That logic is almost Omarian. I would expect that anyone referring to "wait and see" or "see how he plays" refers to "seeing" (in the general sense) how Jose does in 2011: can he stay healthy; how does he perform; etc. I'm fine with signing him to a contract extension but I think there's an awful lot of presumption that Jose would want to do so.
  12. Starts the year in AAA. Gets called up to make a start or two due to rainout/doubleheader/etc. Makes some starts after Capuano/Young get hurt but loses his rotation spot to Johan. Returns in September.
  13. 11 - Ced Landrum? Edit: nope, not a white guy. PS. I guess I see "O's" and think "A's." Whoops.
  14. I would guess Brook Fordyce for #0 but I thought he played for the Orioles. Is that list of teams exhaustive?
  15. Josh Willingham?
  16. 66 has to be Alberto Castillo.
  17. #10 is Greg Olson.
  18. #62 is Quilvio Veras.
  19. Interestingly, they upped the broadcast time for this one to 90 minutes. They were showing a good portion of the original broadcast (Keith Jackson - Howard Cosell - Don Drysdale is your broadcast team) but a little too much of Costas and guest Larry Bowa talking over them.
  20. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Fifth outfielder, little playing time, at least until Beltran is dealt, and possibly after that. I say he'll end the year with about 150 plate appearances. Who do you see as the 4th outfielder? --- I expect 250 ABs from Evans, getting some platoon starts, spelling Pagan and possibly Davis. I won't say he'll be Jose Valentin against lefties in 2006 but I'm hopeful he'll be close if Collins gives him the ABs.
  21. batmagadanleadoff wrote: But even in a world full of egos, I'd bat Pagan no higher than sixth (if at all) if a lefty was starting against the Mets. I'd like to try giving Nick Evans some of those ABs if there was a lefty starter.
  22. Ceetar wrote: Question is, were he to make the team, could David Wright be that guy? I think David will make the team. In all seriousness, the answer is no. Wright has been a Met every single day that Perez has. He's not going to suddenly become Perez' confidant and motivator. My guess is -- that if anyone were to successfully do that -- it would almost certainly be a member of the pitching staff.
  23. I guess Brian Cashman was just flat-out lying when he claimed he would not sign a Type-A free agent.
  24. The "protection" for the home opener is why the next day's game (Saturday) is a night start (discussed elsewhere in another thread).
  25. Who's to say there wasn't one going during game 5 as well? They were both out of the game by the 12th...
