His launch angle increased by 3 full percent from last year to this, and his K% subsequently jumped from 7.7 to 9.8%. Maybe he just needs to calm his shit down and hang out with McNeil in the batting cage. maybe 'launch angle' isnt such a good idea for guys who can't hit the ball over the outfielders' heads regularly? "improved launch angle" may help powerful guys homer but may cause a guy who was hitting line drives i front of people to now hit them at people? i wonder where his flyball/line drive/groundball rates have gone if he tinkered with the swing?

  8. Wheeler turned into a groundball machine tonight! Maybe Guiilorme gives confidence?
  9. Thanks, you're very talented. Thanks, right back atcha. What I wanted to say in the other post in this thread is to follow up on not being so concerned about the other teams, yet. I don't fret about the Mets, as you say, lost opportunity to move ahead of the DBacks the other day because that Mets loss will hurt them just the same even if the DBacks had lost on that day. I think this is all a convoluted way of really saying, "Just win, baby". I mean, to use an extreme example that still kinda makes the point, a team that loses on Opening day is behind half the teams in the league, assuming every team starts on the same day. See what I mean? So what. yeah, i'm on board with "just win", gone are the days of 100 win teams missing the playoffs with 4 divisions and no wildcard. win enough and you'll get there. it probably needs to be at least labor day before i worry about what the other clubs do every day

  16. He speculated based on what? I definitely see him as the type to conjur racism out of nothing, you mentioned Puma but I couldnt find it googling - did he say something?
  17. Edgy MD wrote: Well, in defense of Law, prospects are his beat. And while I know the Christian faith isn't your bag, and while many denominations have different rites and creeds, please let me assure you that jerking off to the Second Coming isn't really how it's done. Also, later reports (with our own Mike Fucking Puma in the middle of them) have suggested that the closed clubhouse thingy with the Jays wasn't because Stroman was pissed about not going to the Yankees, but rather that he received some anonymous shit talking from management personnel on the way out the door. Keith Law himself, among some others, have called out these comments as something more than cheap and condescending, but also racist. Sorry if you took offense, I meant to insult Keith not Christians. I saw that there was apparently some anger on the way out the door between Stroman and management, but who suggested it was racial? any evidence? did anyone involved say something? or just the talking heads who need to generated baseless controversy?
  18. I had to wait all the way til the end but but loved the 'Yankees suck' chant
  19. I am no longer an ESPN paid subscriber, but I can only assume that noted Mets-hater Keith Law didn't like the Stroman trade as he jerks off to prospects like they are all the second coming. Meanwhile over at The Athletic, Former GM Jim Bowden says the Mets did great: https://theathletic.com/1110927/2019/08/01/bowden-trade-deadline-grades-for-all-30-mlb-teams/https://theathletic.com/1110927/2019/08/01/bowden-trade-deadline-grades-for-all-30-mlb-teams/ New York Mets Grade: A- Acquired RHP Marcus Stroman from Blue Jays in exchange for LHP Anthony Kay and RHP Simeon Woods Richardson. Traded RHP Wilmer Font to Blue Jays for cash. Acquired RHP Brooks Pounders from Indians for cash. Traded LHP Jason Vargas and $2.9m to Phillies in exchange for C Austin Bossart. From Wednesday night: The New York Mets shocked the baseball world Sunday when they outbid their crosstown rival Yankees and several other contending teams to land right-handed starting pitcher Marcus Stroman from the Toronto Blue Jays, intending to keep him as an important part of their starting rotation this year and next. In return, the Mets sent their top left-handed pitching prospect Anthony Kay, their first-round pick and No. 31 overall in the June 2016 MLB Draft, along with right-handed pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson, amounting to a solid but not special return for the rebuilding Blue Jays. The Mets realize this offseason free-agent market for starting pitching was tough and they wanted to get a headstart on building for 2020. The Mets kept starters Noah Syndergaard and Zach Wheeler and closer Edwin Díaz, which allows them to be more competitive the rest of the year and sets them up for 2020, especially if they can re-sign Wheeler. If the Mets can improve their defense and add a bat or two in the offseason, they should be right back to being contenders in 2020.

  24. Edgy MD wrote: For the sake of cookies and M&Ms, let's say this is an indication that the Mets are muscling up for the remainder of the seasons, rather than stripping down. What's the rotation? Because they now have six healthy starters. Do they now still flip Vargas or Wheeler or Syndergaard (Wheelvargaarrd), only do it instead for someone who provides current value, rather than future interests? pitching always tends to sort itself out from an injury perspective. but here is an idea: the Mets alternate Matz/Vargas - the clear '5th options' - based on the opponent. who has to submit their lineup card first in a game of chicken as to whether a righty or lefty is starting? the other is available in long relief that week.
