    Endy

i have to assume that theres a trade in the works, why else would you want all these guys around? i hope Nady goes and not Diaz, i still hate the idea of the bottom 4 being Nady, Matsui, Loduca, pitcher and i really think Diaz has much more potential than Nady.

And the Mets moves would have been the only big off season stories. i think if the best remaining Free Agent was Rey Ordonez the yankees would feel the need to sign him and have a huge press conference just so they could have one.

  5. dear willie: if you bat Wright 7th again this year i can't be held responsible for what i might do. merry christmas -a concerned fan
  6. i was a fan of Nakamura and thought he'd be good if given the chance. oh well.

    Strat

its nice to see a player calling the gold glove award bullshit...which it is.
  8. Dewon Brazelton was well regarded, Junior Spivey would make a decent bench guy.
  9. the players and their agents take the owners for a ride full of $$$$$$$ signs once they hit free agency, they also take them for a ride after the drafr, at apoint when they arent even likely to ever be good players, it is only "fair" that a team get away with paying a guy "poorly" during the years before free agency. if MY GM gave a pre-arbitration guy more money than he had to just to be nice i'd fire him on the spot.
  10. there is no logical reason to sign this guy long term given what he has shown so far. the mets control him for the next few years anyway and would be wise to remember that when offering him contracts. giving a player extra money just to buy out their 1st year of free agency only makes sense if the overall deal is a bargain or if the player is so good that you'll overpay to make sure he is around that extra year (like a Pujols.)
  11. yeah sorry Zvon, no offense to your brothers but its full as is...if everyone invited one person we'd be over 40!
  12. i'm definetaly opposed to counting offensive strikeouts as a category, and caught stealing shouldnt be one either....better to just use "net steals" (steals - caught stealings) as one category, if you want them to count. pitcher walks are redundant with WHIP so cut that along with batter k's. i'd prefer to just go 5x5 as its what everyone is familiar with...if not everyone still has to realize that in a roto league you cant just have categories "out of nowhere" like shutouts, triples, etc because they'd count evenly with things like runs and era, which doesnt sound like fun to me.

  14. ]Jeter struck out 117 times last season. Thats alot for a lead off guy. Johnny Kd 68 times. strikeouts are no more harmful than other outs, furthermore, even if they were more harmful you'd be better off putting htem in the leadoff spot where there is nobody on base in front of you.
  15. ]He's still a good leadoff hitter and this deal doesn't look to be too long. if the yankees lead him off it will be a poor decision. Derek Jeter is a better leadoff hitter
  16. 4 years, 52 mil.
  17. i would consider them seperate stints as long as he was under contract with another team in the interrum
  18. Elster88 wrote: How many of you still aren't bothered by the idea of him participating in the World Baseball Thing? I want the truth. i was bothered by him doing the dominican league crap yoo, i'm bothered by this too. the Mets made a smart move shutting him down early but they totally negated it by allowing him to do anything other than sit on his couch this winter.
  19. the blue hat rules, get rid of that other shit and the black jerseys too.
  20. yeah i suppose Mitchell is the next starter, if we're going by "as a met" stats then you're right about the position changes but if Mora's years in Baltimore count i'd rather keep him in the lineup
  21. Johnny Dickshot wrote: I think once you get past the S's 2 front starters, they'd be easy to beat. I'll take my chances with the B's but if I had to name a favorite of those so far, the H's are plenty tough. the S team actually left out Warren Spahn....i guess he was trying to go only by how good they were as a Met?
  22. the Mighty M team c Brent Mayne 1b Eddie Murray, Ryan Mcguire, Doug Mientkiewicz 2b Kaz Matsui 3b Melvin Mora, Joe McEwing ss Kevin Mitchell rf Kevin McReynolds cf Willy Mays, Brian Mcrae lf Lee Mazzilli sp Pedro Martinez, Dave Mlicki, Josias Manzanillo, Pat Mahomes rp Tug Mcgraw, Randy Myers, Roger McDowell, Greg McMichael, Orber Moreno, Mike Maddux i'm sure i'm missing people, i love the bullpen....my 4-man rotation stinks, the lineup is ok
  23. that is a pretty weird statement about the fans.
  24. ]Grudzialanek is another guy who, like LoDuca, posts a decent BA but doesn't walk and doesn't hit for power. Given that signing him would mean both paying him and eating Matsui's contract, I'd just as soon run Kaz out there and see what he's got. his OBPs the last 3 years in order: .366, .347, .334(career is .330) any of those numbers would be acceptable (the average of the 3 is .349...a number i'd love to have) you're right that he lacks power and he is old. if it's a 1-year deal i'd jump to unload Matsui, but otherwise he's not enough of an upgrade to bother
