  1. ST stats are meaningless. Kazmir is going to have a good year.
  2. Springtime for Victor and Willie Metland is happy and gay!
  3. Need: Closers Have: anyone but Derrek Lee is tradeable.
  4. ]we don't know that the quote isn't being manufactured by the evil Keppinger Advocacy Group Where do I join KAG?
  5. if he becomes a free agent and doesnt mind some time at Norfolk i'd be in favor of signing him. I don't think anything should be traded to get him though.
  6. autodraft fucked me too, after my first pick there wasnt a single guy i would have taken in that spot and i did carefully prerank 300 players. damn you yahoo.

    NINE!!!

yancy wins. astronomers will tell you there are ten planets now (that we know of.)
  8. and all this time i thought you were Jerome from Manhattan...
  9. ]He absolutely pitched his way out of a rotation spot he was virtually handed a few years back due to a lousy Spring Any team that decides a rotation spot based on 9 spring innings rather than 100+ innings the year before is just STUPID. Seo should have been gauranteed a spot in 2004 after what he did in 2003, having him "audition" in the spring was a moronic decision. ]Hey, how about that? This thread got retitled. someone decided to turn my post in the other thread into it's own thread (and it wasnt me) so i changed the title to what i would have made it had i started the thread, because it looks like i did start the thread when i really didnt.
  10. The Mets style isn't to bring up prospects as a reaction to a team slump, though they might do so for individual slumps by Nady AND Diaz. I think its pretty unlilkely that we see Milledge before September barring a serious injury to Beltran
  11. Seo was mistreated in 2003, he was mistreated in 2004 when he didn't get the job out of spring training despite his 2003 performance, he was mistreated in 2005 when he was sent down, despite pitching well, to accomodate ishii who everyone knew sucked (this wasnt revisionist history, everyone but the manager knew this guy stunk and said it at the time.) finally, rather than randolph saying "Seo is in the rotation" after the 2005 season he was non-commital to a guy who was great for him and then the Mets went and traded him, so yeah he was DEFINETALY mistreated.
  12. Amen to that. the way Seo has been treated the last few years has annoyed the hell out of me while guys like Ishii got infinite do-overs on bad starts. edit- if you're going to create threads with my posts i'm going to give them better titles.
  13. it turns out i'm working saturday, have a nice draft folks i'll be on auto
  14. Johnny Dickshot wrote: He looked like he was gonna get hammered in the first two innings -- couple really hard shots were hit and he was in trouble thruout, but escaped. He really made some LH batters look bad on that changeup. He'd be great as the 7th/8th inning guy and/or getting out big lefties in relief.... now if only we had a guy like Jae Seo to replace him in the rotation...
  15. But there was nothing stopping the Mets from writing it in there if they wanted to, they just decided to let the player dictate to them rather than telling the player what to do
  16. The problem is that while some of these countries can field a competitive national TEAM only the U.S. and Japan have individual professional teams on the same high level.
  17. The difference between Piazza and Soriano is that Piazza never refused to honor his contract, he might have said no behind closed doors or suggested he didn't like the idea to the media but that is his right. He never refused to take the field when the Mets wrote "Piazza 1B" on the lineup card. Would he have refused if the Mets had called him on it the way the Nationals did to Soriano? We can't say for certain, but I'd likely to believe he'd have taken the field and saved his complaining for after the game.
  18. Johnny Dickshot wrote: ] Dang, who was he playing catch with? Kelly Stinnett, American Hero. I suppose thats one way of winning the opening day start...
  19. But those number are (obviously) more valuable coming over 100 games than over 150. unless you think the 50-game replacement will hit .000. I think Floyd is CLEARLY a better hitter than Soriano, as shown by any park-adjusted stats you look at. Soriano is gonna stink in RFK this year and he'd stink at Shea too. Would i take him in exchange for someone i didnt see as a meaningful part of this team's present or future? (say from the group of Nady, Zambrano, and prospects not named Milledge/Pelfrey.) Sure i would. But i'm not paying even .50 on the dollar for a guy with his horrible defense, questionable hitting (he cant get on base and his power is going to evaporate outside of Texas) and horendous attitude towards the concept of "team." ]Batting at Shea, he'd likely make Jose look like Rickey, and Matsui look average. Fortunately (for those of us who like pitchers' duals and/or dislike Soriano) RFK Stadium is a huge pitcher park as well, possibly more so than Shea, so we'll get to see Soriano stink firsthand at a safe distance and within our division
  20. smg58 wrote: Is now a good time to point out that Todd Walker had a higher OPS than Soriano the last two seasons? And it's not like he's any worse of a fielder. Nor would anybody suggest Milledge as a fair exchange. Soriano is just way overvalued, one of the best 2Bmen and (#2 hitters!) was traded this offseason and that was Mark Loretta....boy do i wish we'd demanded him for Cameron.
  21. Clemens is a great player, do we want him too? I don't want a guy doing what Soriano is doing just on principle. Besides, his defense sucks and if Beltran "must hit 3rd" we need a 2-hitter not a guy who would bat 7th for us (and anyone who wants him ahead of Wright or Delgado is going to get hurt...)
  22. Edgy DC wrote: Sadaharu, by the way, was all about the Benny Agbayani leg kick: I would guess thats the other way around.
  23. Willets Point wrote: Ironically, Cuba has a shortage of lefties. maybe we can help them out, i propose we allow freedom loving Cubans to come here in exchange for an equal number of crazy lefties like Noam Chomsky and Michael Moore.
  24. ="Willets Point"]You're right! He is gone. Scary. I hope he just went for a beer. Highly unlikely. I hope he went to change shirts... but i don't find that very likely either.
  25. I wouldnt want Womack on my bench much less starting. Freel is a speed guy with no power and a nice OBP, he should leadoff for us if we got him, but I'd be happy enough to see him hit 2nd and I'd be willing to give up Diaz (even though i like him better than Nady.) I'm pretty sure They'd want pitching too and I'd be willing to trade any one of Banister/Maine/Iriki WITH Diaz or Humber WITHOUT Diaz because Freel is 30 years old has OBPs in the .370's the last 2 years and a 2 hitter who plays 2B is exactly what we need if you assume Reyes will lead off no matter what and Beltran won't bat 2nd.
