  2. ]We also won a decent share of those games but looked bad doing it. you're goig to look bad sometimes over a 6-month season, i think a good team wins games while it "looks bad" and then turns things on, in spurts if need be. i don't think the Mets ever really got going last year until after the all-star break.
  3. theres a thread on this already
  4. 3 run shotfor the opposing pitcher? fuck.
  5. 6 innings, 7 strikeouts, 1 run, 4 hits, 1 walk for Lawrence today in his debut.
  6. what about Waldman.bot who gives Jeter a 10 in every game?
  7. which Bush? Everyone hates long speeches, I was glad mine was short, the rain probably helped with that (it was outside in a light rain.)
  8. well i'm 3rd, 5th, and 7th in my other yahoo leagues and 4th (of 10) in my only league that really matters, the NL-only league for money. not a great year so far but things still have time to turn around
  9. I'm with Russo on this one. She acted like an IDIOT on the radio and he is free to call her out on it. If she doesn't like it she should try harder not to sound like some screeching kid over the airwaves.
  10. ]including Suzyn Waldman hunting down Mike Francesa at Shea Stadium this weekend and cursing him out those might be my two least-favorite sports-related people (that don't actually play/manage a team) in New York.

    o. and p. are both Adam Katz...are these two people? if so can they be differentiated in some way (middle intial, company)
  13. thats pretty cool, i hope he's enjoying the hot girls that suddenly want to be his friend.
  14. can kool-aid man pitch? he's got short arms and a Wells-like girth!
  15. Willets Point wrote: It's fun to go back to the beginning of the season and then slide it along and watch the Yankees drop. yeah i did that a few times, it would be even better if it keeps dropping all year
  16. of course, the guy with the longer arm releases the ball that much closer to the plate, he is also likely to be taller and have the advantage of downward motion
  17. i'd like it more i he was never needed to pitch any innings at all... (even though i like the guy)

  20. the homestand and the series went well. i agree that walking Ordon...i mean mientkiewicz on 4 pitches is atrocious.
  21. ]Short story: Mets down by 5 at the Phillies and Cliff Floyd hits a three-run homer. Most of us are like "Yay Mets" but one cranky dude put Floyd on notice for killing the rally. that might have been me, if so it wasnt "killing the rally" that i was killing him for, it was swinging at a 3-0 pitch inthe 9th inning when he couldnt even tie the game.
  22. izzy and wheeler were 26 when they were traded, a bit old but i think you can still be a prospect at that age. payton was 29 so i'll give you that one, i thought he was younger
  23. Gwreck wrote: ="Nymr83"]my problem comes when a prospect is traded for a mediocrity. Accepting a fairly wide definition of "prospect," can you name 3 examples of this happening in the last 10 years? I'll spot you Kazmir-Zambrano. are we talking just about the Mets? i wasn't making an accusation against the Mets just a general point but here are some Mets examples in the last 10 years... Kazmir trade Dan Wheeler for Adam Seuss Bobby Jones and Jason Bay for Steve Reed and Jason Middlebrook (this broke another one of my guidelines too, don't trade starting pitchers for mediocre relievers) Tyner and Wilson for Trammell (this one didnt really hurt much in the end, but its an example of the kind of deal with little upside and lots of downside that could blow up just like kazmir did) Jay Payton for crap (i'm not looking it up but i know we got crap back) Isringhausen for billy fucking taylor i'm sure theres more and i'm sure there are plenty of non-met examples
