  1. ="AG/DC"]The only blood I'm looking for is the other team's. And you'd like to have the manager best equipped to draw it, right? ="GYC"]Oh, and he defended Herm Edwards. Fuck both of them who defended edwards? willie? one more thing, and this isn't willie's fault but o'connors dumb editorializing: ]Randolph knew this second game with the Yanks was too important to watch on a clubhouse TV. what makes it so important? are they in your division? do you trail them in the wild card standings? i wish the writers would stop treating the "subway series" like it is anything more than the least important regular season games the mets will play.
  2. vic: i know minaya may not have produced the goods yet but i just like the guy, if you think he deserves to be fired thats alright and you may be rigght. i think the GM has an advantage over the manager in the "who do the fans want fired" sweepstakes because the GM made his moves in the offseason and even years earlier in building the team, while the manager is the one making decisions for all to criticize during the season. after the mets lose a game more people are going to call in and say "fire the manager, i can't believe he brought Joe Scrub in to face Pujols there," they aren't going to say "fire the GM, i can't believe Joe Scrub was thebest guy we had in the bullpen there" joe torre won enough world series to be immune to the wrath of the fans, but when criticized he often fell victim to this logic, the principle yankee weakness in the regular season from 2001-2007 was probably the bullpen, and torre always got yelled at by wfan callers and newspaper writers for not bringing Rivera or (whoever the 2nd most reliable guy was that year) into a certain spot, ignoring the fact that if he did as they asked every time Rivera would have had 200 innings on his arm per year. you dont hear much "fire cashman, the bum has a 200 million dollar team and couldnt find a decent setup guy"
  3. can't make it, that spot you marked with a X used to be fine but wit the citifiel construction the Mets have turned everything they can into parking so not sure whats up there now. for example, they now charge you to park under some of the freeways where once you could park on your own for free.
  4. No, I haven't. When have you?
  5. ] it takes the focus off them and their misdeeds, and puts it on the accuser. Willie might be upset, but he knows better. People were just as hard -- if not harder -- on Art Howe, who tended to be white. and thats exactly the problem i have with people like willie who play the race card
  6. its is bullshit to sue the bat company. if the bats arent safe enough for kids at a certain age then the LEAGUE needs to ban them. you don't sue the scissor company when your kid's nursery school decides to hand out non-safety scissors and the kid cuts himself
  7. way to play the "they hate 'cause i'm black" victim card willie, never mind the biggest collapse in the history of the game. i now support his immediate firing despite my generally wanting to give any manager a bigger chunk of the season before letting them go.
  8. i hated the trade (though not because i dont like church) and still think it may be bad in the longrun, but boy has it worked out so far.
  9. MFS62 wrote: More Little League Bullshit: http://www.thebostonchannel.com/news/16278448/detail.html Later thats bullshit too, theres always alot of bullshit surrounding kids sports
  10. From Fox News: ]WAYNE, N.J. A New Jersey couple, whose son was struck in the chest with a line drive, is planning to sue the maker of a metal baseball bat used in the game. Two years ago, Steven Domalewski was pitching when the ball slammed into his chest and stopped his heart. He was resuscitated but now has brain damage and is severely disabled. The family contends metal baseball bats are inherently unsafe for youth games because the ball comes off them much faster than from wooden bats. The lawsuit will also be filed against Little League Baseball and a sporting goods chain that sold the bat. An attorney says Domalewski will need millions of dollars worth of medical care for the rest of his life. The bat maker says while it sympathizes with Steven and his family, the bat is not to blame for the injury. If you want to sue the league thats one thing (though i still think you should lose) but to sue the bat maker is just total and utter bullshit and i hope the bat maker not only wins their motion for summary judgment but gets attorneys fees awarded too because the claim is so frivolous. i'm sorry your kid got hurt but its not the bat company's fault.
  11. making fun of yourself isn't going to stop others from making fun of you too, i felt the need to pile on.
  12. thats how i read it, but then i'm reading elster's paraphrase of someone else's interview with wagner so i could be wrong
  13. pretty stupid of wagner to admit his catcher is framing pitches that shouldnt be strikes
  14. hello? vegas? i'll take the Giants to win the superbowl. no no i don't want the points, give me the money line!
  15. agreed. i wasn't complaining when john franco used to walk the bases loaded and go 3-2 on the next guy only to get out of it. you get the job done or you don't, thats all.
  16. This was one of those (rare imo) outings by a pitcher where their ERA for the game doesnt reflect how good the outing was, i think Santana was very good today and challenging Abreu with nobody on base and a lead was the right move even if he homered.
  17. i hate when 0-2 pitches get smacked out of the yard
  18. well 3 runs is not bad but the mets really could have had a huge inning there
  19. infield hit! way to let it roll pettite
  20. bases loaded nobody out for Delgado, nothing 1 out for Easley, nothing what the fuck?
  21. edit- now postponed due to rain.
  22. I think Carp is a guy you want on this roster whether starting or not, he has some pop off the bench
  23. we want bobby!
