  1. i think the 7-1 win the other day and salvaging the doubleheader today were just enough to save willie again. i really get the feeling the mets keep winning just one game at the right time to prevent willie from getting the axe.
  2. he was decent as recently as 2006, so after 1 bad year he's no longer "a major league hitter"? who would you have preffered the mets pick up for free?
  3. Right now I'm tempted to see if Carp can handle AAA. I wouldn't call him up to the majors at age 22 unless there was a dire need or 4 starts a week for him (which there aren't if he can't play the corner outfield spots.) If the Mets contend, call him up in September to help the bench. If the Mets give up on this year (and I'm not saying its near that time yet)give him the every day job, might as well see what he can do at that point.
  4. Perez with 7 strong innings and 2 rbi to help his cause, can the shitpen hold it?

  6. ]This was back when Piazza was new with the team and not quite welcome yet he was never "not quite welcome yet", there was a sellout his first game i think. if anything his welcome wore out during his tenure here
  7. you'll see 6 shutout innings and then the bullpen giving up 6 runs.
  8. ]Billy Wagner, whatever you say about him, is tougher than most of the ballplayers. He has a weekly (paid) interview on ESPN radio in NY and he's there screw that, you're not tough for showing up to a PAID interview. go on, for free, with evan and joe or mike and the mad dog tommorow.
  9. maybe i'm just a bitter fantasy owner of mike pelfrey but i dont feel like a win.
  10. i think the only ones left in the pen are Schoenweis, who has been terrible especially lately, and Smith.
  11. FUCK THIS TEAM, FIRE THEM ALL.
  12. theres nothing like succeeding in NY
  13. Flyball to center, it only took him 7 pitches to get through the 8th... does Willie dare allow him to pitch the 9th?
  14. Pelfrey K's Upton for the 2nd out of the 8th.
  15. AG/DC wrote: Aflac asks who the only man besides Reyes is who had 250 steals and 50 triples before he turned 25. I'm guessing Honus Wagner. Rickey probably had 400 steals already, but not sure about the triples
  16. "pitch-count shmitch-count" say Wayne Hagan and Howie Rose, send Pelfrey out for the 8th!
  17. nice job by pelfrey, now the bullpen needs to hold this lead.
  18. AG/DC wrote: Just logging in. I support sticking with Pelfrey here. ditto

  20. why did webb leave??
  21. they should be in awe of him.
  22. 5-1 Mets in the 2nd inning, Alou is back and has already driven in two. The Mets are battering Valadius' favorite pitcher.
  23. Gwreck wrote: No booze, no cans, no glass are the only restrictions. I have heard some rumblings that this year they would only allow sealed beverages in but I haven't seen that enforced. i've gotten in with an open soda bottle but i've seen them confiscated as well. still, theres really nothing to complain about with shea's food policy. lets hope it carries over into the new place.
  24. Hernandez and Castillo are good candidates. I like Alou because he's good when healthy and is only signed a yearat a time. If Alou had gotten a multi-year deal I'd be ripping Omar, but he's a smart gamble for the year.
