  1. ]Matt Holliday - Coors Field = Mark Kotsay - ability to play CF thats a load of shit. his career OPS+ is 130, a ballpark-neutral stat.
  2. Gwreck wrote: At this point, the fact that they have failed to put Church on the DL is truly incompetence by Omar Minaya and the Mets' staff. its incompetence on the GM's part to not listen to your medical staff, if they say he can play you listen, if they say he can't you listen.
  3. before kazmir the last major ripoff i can remember is the deal getting Olerud to the Mets
  4. i have maddux in my NL only league, i think Hoffman alone has blown 3 wins for him this year.
  5. yes, he is so good against lefties right now that they might be justified in just walking him
  6. Anyone else notice that in almost 200 plate appearences against righties this year Wright is hitting only .231/.328/.426? He's making up for it by clubbing lefties at .435/ .532 /.742, but when will he come around against the righties?
  7. unfuckingbelievable. 3 walks and a hit by pitch to end the game. Schoenweis does not belong in a game except to get out a lefty in the middle innings. he is atrocious.
  8. Pelfrey got the job done tonight and the results were good, but 6 innings 8 hits 3 walks 1 k will get you in big trouble most of the time. joe smith just ran the count full on kouzmanoff before getting the job done. can we have a run please?
  9. relief pitcher Mark Worrell, son of Todd Worrell, homered today in his first major league AB.
  10. Shea: fans fall from escalator Yankee: beams fall from ceiling
  11. finding a good (albeit overpaid) pinch hitter should be pretty easy as you approach the deadline and teams out of contention are all too happy to shed contracts. a few targets from teams unlikely to be in contention at the end of June and maybe willing to dump a veteran who is making money and isn't part of their future: Jose Guillen, Royals Marcus Thames, Tigers Raul Ibanez, Mariners
  12. ]Martin would satisfy my desire to have a Micah Owings-type player I think if Val ever met Owings he would bend over.
  13. Wagner comes on and gets the double play to end it on the 2nd pitch. its a save because the tying run was on deck. pretty pathetic that Wagner had to throw at all tonight, not that he's been overworked.
  14. wow. with a 6 run lead i can't think of anything worse than the sequence "walk, walk, homer" to start off the 9th inning. i'd rather see 3 straight solo shots, at least then he'd be giving them a chance to make outs by putting the ball over the plate
  15. very nice inning. off to bed
  16. i'm out of here too, i have no problem being sleep deprived for a baseball game, but i wont do it for Giants' batting practice.
  17. he just walked the #8 hitter and Perez will leave the game having recorded ONE out. when pedro comes back we should keep Pelfrey and send Perez down to work on his strike-throwing.
  18. who the hell is Bob Horwitz??
  19. according to baseball reference he's thrown only 58% of his pitches for strikes this year, down from 62% each of the last 2 years (it was 64% for that very good year he had in 2004) for comparison, Maine has been at 63% this year and last, 62 the year before. Santana is at 65% this year, 68, 69 and 70 the last 3 years. throwing strikes is good.
  20. ="Willets Point"]="Nymr83"]="Willets Point"].310 that would require him to hit about .260 over 400 ABs, i'm on board with that happening. I just picked his career average figuring he'd revert to form. reverting to form doesnt mean you should expect a guy to end up with his career average at the end of the year, it means you should expect him to hit for that average, but with the weight of his good/bad start putting him above or below it at year's end.
  21. i like your new knot better.

The guy is an injury factory. I say he goes down for a month, rushes back and gimps through the end to hit .326. AG/DC Jun 02 2008 08:13 PM A little time on the DL could help him maintain his lofty average, depending on what he hurts. Well, I didn't want to make a wild guess, so I picked that. Willets Point Jun 02 2008 08:18 PM Oh, now I see what you're getting at. I meant revert to form for the entire season not for the rest of the season. Rockin' Doc Jun 02 2008 08:55 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Jun 02 2008 08:58 PM I'm going to say .353 If Larry, gets another 250 at bats for the rest of the season and reverts back to his career average (.310) the rest of the way, then his average for the season would be roughly .353 Seems as logical as any other guess I could make. Fman99 Jun 02 2008 08:57 PM .336 MFS62 Jun 03 2008 06:53 AM I hope he hits .3991. But I'm predicting .343 Later willpie Jun 03 2008 08:00 AM .383 Looks like for his career, he's actually a better hitter post-ASB. Better than this, though? I think not. Edgy DC Jan 02 2009 03:08 PM Congratulations, irish. Is this how the phrase Luck of the Irish came to be? Grimm should demand a recount, he was the closest without actually going over. Bob Barker would have given the win to Grimm.
  23. ]So, he wasn't really THAT much off his career numbers last year. I think his failure was due more to misuse than anything else. yes, schoenweis can be an effective lefty specilaist, but the mets clearly didnt see him in that role when they gave him a 3 year multi million dollar deal.
  24. ]Nein. i'm not disbelieving you, but what did you say about delgado at the time?
  25. .335 he's 81 for 200 right now, if he gets another 400 ABs, and hits for his career average of .310 in those ABs (124 for 400) he'd be 205 for 600 (.342) so i'm discounting him a little from that number.
