  2. Gaaah! Severe thunderstorm warning for my area until 8 p.m. If the power goes out I'm going to have to figure out what to do! An extra, and unwelcome, element of suspense has been added to this evening.
  3. Rosters were still at 24 in 1989? I didn't think it lasted that long.
  4. Cut the crap, Hahn. NO ONE PREFERS THIS!
  5. The "leaving 22 guys" part is interesting. It sounds like he's saying that there are two players that he'll be glad to leave behind.
  6. We were unanimous on 16 of the 25 roster spots. The nine who we didn't all agree on were as follows. (The number after each name is the number of people here who deemed the player unworthy.) [list:3h08sufu]Colon 2 Goeddel 15 Niese 6 Reed 1 Robles 3 Plawecki 4 Conforto 1 Cuddyer 2 Nieuwenhuis 16[/list:u:3h08sufu]
  7. Sergio Ferrer?
  8. Really? I would never have guessed that.
  9. And remember, if the Mets lose it will be on your head!
  10. 9 hours and 41 minutes! In the shorter term, the decision on Matz or Gilmartin is due in another 56 minutes.
  11. I can't believe that we missed this, but on September 29, in Philadelphia, Lucas Duda became the 12th Mets player to reach 100 home runs. He's poised to move up another five notches next year, which will put him on the cusp of being in some pretty elite territory. [list:l04dn2nu]1. Darryl Strawberry 252 2. David Wright 235 3. 12. Yeah, it's all fun. Suspenseful fun. Remember, the outcome of these games doesn't affect our actual lives. This stuff isn't important at all -- unless the Mets win, of course.

  14. Edgy MD wrote: I can't believe you guys have grown so foggy about this guy. I expect we probably remember the player, but not the quote about his young son.

  16. It is going to be tough. Winning this series is no sure thing, although no series is ever a sure thing.
  17. Edgy MD wrote: It's absolutely untrue that half of them didn't make the parade. Dwight Gooden wasn't there, but I'm pretty sure everyone else was. And everyone noticed that Doc wasn't there. Many years later he confessed that he missed the parade because he was up late partying with strangers and taking cocaine. I don't really think that this is the template we want to use going forward.
  18. And a pleasant good morning everybody! Have the Mets yet released the official report on whether or not Jacob deGrom slept funny? 14 hours and 40 minutes to go!
  19. I skipped Fantastic Four for numerous reasons, but other than that, I'm not at all Marvelled out. (Actually, I skipped Amazing Spider-Man 2 as well.) I do faithfully watch each Marvel Studios movie and do so the weekend it opens. They're never as good as I want them to be, but I still eagerly await most of them. (I'm less enthused about Guardians of the Galaxy, however.) I was glad to hear of the news about Ant Man and the Wasp. I think the one I'm most looking forward to is Black Panther.
  20. Are Houston and Kansas City a bigger combined market than Toronto and Dallas/Fort Worth? I remember when postseason games were on broadcast networks, they didn't like having Toronto in the playoffs (I think I'm recalling 1985 here) because the networks weren't selling advertising time in Canada. I don't know, but I doubt that that's still a factor.
  21. If I get drowsy, I'll turn on the TiVo, turn off the TV, and doze on the couch for a little while. Then when I wake up, I'll hit the TiVo button, turn on the TV, and resume where I left off. 25 hours and 13 minutes to go!
  22. Gwreck wrote: Royals are 1985, not 1980, but of course the point holds. Oops, right. They lost to the Phillies in 1980, beat the Cardinals in 1985.
