    I was just looking at some site metrics, and found that in the last month, 60 percent of traffic came from Georgia (the U.S. state, not the Eastern European country) and was sourced from Facebook's site in Ireland, somehow. I've blocked the series of IP addresses used by Meta Ireland in Georgia. We'll have to see if that helps.

    I don't think they'll all suck, but it is possible that none of them become stars. I still have faith in Vientos. The other guys do still need to prove themselves.

    I don't really have any emotions about any of them. I just, pragmatically, want them to lose as often as possible because they're division rivals.

    I see we're getting that eagerly awaited Senga-Senger battery! What's the prognosis on Torrens? It appears he's available if needed, as we saw a couple of days ago.

    I know this is meaningless at this point, but why should that stop us? I noticed Baseball Reference's Most Likely Playoff Scenarios today has the Cubs as the top-ranked division winner, with the Padres as the second team getting a first-round bye. They have the Mets as the third division winner, who would get home field advantage in the Division Series against the third Wild Card, the Diamondbacks. The first and second Wild Cards would be, respectively, the Dodgers and Giants. In the American League, they have the Astros and Tigers getting a bye, with the Yankees winning the East and playing the Rays in the Division Series while the Royals play the Mariners. The Mets are projected to go 91-71 and finish three games ahead of the Phillies and seven ahead of the Braves. They have a 14.2% chance of winning the pennant, and 8.7% to win the World Series. Only the Astros (11.6), Cubs (10.8), and Padres (10.1) have better odds. This is, of course, subject to change.

Rounding, I assume.)

    It would have been good to have seen him as a Met, but I never thought it was likely. Even as wealthy as Cohen is, I didn't think he'd commit to mega contracts in two consecutive winters. And it's good that Vlad will remain a Blue Jay. I like seeing a player commit to his original team for the long-term, and I'm also glad that Vlad won't be a Yankee or a Dodger.

    I think that's been the standard for a long time. I've always known Kranepool to be referred to as an Original Met.

    I agree with that, but I wonder if the Marlins' ask will be too big. Alcantara looks like the kind of guy for whom you'd trade three or four young players. It took four players to get Johan Santana. Four to get Lindor (and Carrasco) Three to get Piazza. The Mets got four for Seaver. This seems like it would be a similar kind of deal. So which three or four players would it take? I really don't know.

    I think it's inevitable that there will be a lot of speculation about the Mets and Alcantara. He's under team control through the 2027 season, and the Marlins apparently want to use him to bolster their farm system. So the price will be steep. I know the Mets have been loathe to trade prospects recently, but is this the guy for whom they'll make an exception? My guess is that he won't be a Met, but I'm far from certain about that. I don't know who the Marlins would demand, and who the Mets would be willing to trade and who they wouldn't. What do we think about this?

    True, but it's already 3.7 percent over and the Mets have lost three games. I'd say it's time to panic.

    It's silly to think that the Mets would have had to have gone 1-5 or 0-6 with Lindor and Vientos slumping. (And Baty? Really?) This is a team, after all, that has Juan Soto, Pete Alonso, and Brandon Nimmo. Their offense doesn't solely rely on Lindor and Vientos. Or Baty.
