  1. I liked both of these, but memories of Tootsie, for whatever reason, have stuck with me more. So I voted for Tootsie.
  2. I didn't like either movie, but I hated Caddyshack, so I voted Porky's.
  3. No close ones in today's batch, huh?
  4. I don't know if I saw "Nightmare" or not. I remember my friends all liked those kinds of movies, so I went along to a few of them, but those Jason/Freddy etc. movies are all a blur to me now, and probably were then. All I know is I didn't think much of the Blues Brothers at the time, and when I watched it again years later, I didn't feel any differently. So I'm disqualifying myself from this poll.
  5. I don't even remember Heathers. The title doesn't even sound familiar to me. Was it some kind of a chick flick? Why don't I remember the Eighties? I wasn't drinking or doing drugs. Maybe I was watching too much baseball. I do remember doing that!
  6. Me too! I thought it was about a kid getting jailed in Turkey for smuggling drugs. I forgot all about the DeNiro-Grodin buddy movie. I really liked it and it doesn't deserve to have been forgotten.
  7. It worked! I retroactively made this poll expire after one day, and after I did that I was no longer able to cast a vote. I now see the results as if I had voted, even though I didn't. I'll do the same with the other closed polls, just so no additional votes trickle in.
  8. Kirk Cameron? Isn't he that kid from Growing Pains who's now making Jesus movies?
  9. You could open each poll with a 2-day expiration. I did that with the Presidential polling thread, but I'm not aware of whether it worked or not! (If there's anyone who didn't vote in that thread, please check it out and see if it's open or closed to voting.) As for this thread, I didn't vote. I didn't think much of Empire and never saw Weird Science.
  10. I also voted for the werewolf.
  11. So does Lindsay Lohan having sex with a man. (At least, these days.)
  12. Saw this yesterday. It was a fun movie. It definitely wasn't a typical 'superhero' movie, and I enjoyed the fresh take. I'd see a sequel.
  13. I'm not sure; are you referring to Watchmen?
  14. Yahoo Babel Fish translation wrote: Something sluggishly had come dock Gronauers career as a baseball professional in the USA into rolling. In the meantime the Top talent the alligator in-lived itself however in the USA and for higher tasks was already recommended. It had hoped the Brooklyn Cyclones in the single A to be assigned instead dock Gronauer plays a league under it with the Gulf Coast League Mets. The way into the highest play class, major League baseball, is evenly long. But, if Gronauer shows good achievements in the USA, it will play itself fast up in the organization the New York Mets. Around it only goes in the hard competition of the Baseballer in the USA. Who is recommended at most for higher tasks? Dock Gronauer began thereby. To sobering up a first appearance, the alligator Catcher comes in the meantime powerfully into momentum. Regularly Gronauer creates two hits per portion and ejects opposing runners with the attempt of the base stealing at the second plate. Its impact average up-snapped on far over 40 per cent, which catapults it at all up in its team not only to the most successful Catcher but also into the Gefilde of the best impact people. Offer in training " I am so far very much zufrieden" with my achievement; , dock says Gronauer. Unfortunate it is only that the only German in the Mets organization does not get any more assignments. With the Gulf Coast League Mets Catcher stand for five in the crew, which alternate regularly. " Naturally I bekommen" hoped more play portions too; , Gronauer explains. " There I can change unfortunately in addition, nothing to, except me with good achievement in training and in the plays anzubieten." So it is probably only one question of the time, until the Solinger more play portions gets or is carried into the single A, a high-quality league. " However one must also consider that it is my first professional year and I also a little to the play way get accustomed muss" , Gronauer means. " Therefore it would be seized from air, if I would state that I come this year still into a higher league. I can do that badly einschtzen." No matter, which the coming weeks will bring, the first months as a professional are a success and also a new life experience. Dock Gronauer lives each day nearly nothing else as baseball. Relaxing it does not happen. Already at 6 o'clock begins the day of the Solingers. After training daily the league plays stand on the program starting from 12 o'clock, before against 17 o'clock is usually end of workday. Every to five days nevertheless happens it somewhat more calmly. " Then we frei." already times one day; Its dock Gronauer did not forget colleagues with the Solingen of alligator in all other respects yet. At the end of August has its US team the last plays. After it goes briefly back to Germany. " There I look forward now already to alligator, above all, if we reach the final around the German championship sollten" , the 21-Jhrige means. In this case dock Gronauer would stand again for the Solinger as Catcher behind the plate.
  15. Promoted to New Orleans. He'll make his next start tomorrow against Tuscon. Is he on track to pitch for the Mets this season?
  16. I just saw it; very entertaining! (I liked it much better than Batman Begins, which struck me as a little dry.) When Heath Ledger said, "You complete me" I thought it was a Brokeback reference and I got a kick out of it. It wasn't until later that I realized it was a Jerry Maguire reference. Oh well. Brokeback was something like, "I can't quit you."
  17. Unless he makes the 2009 starting rotation.
  18. This is stirring memories of a young Doc Gooden. I'm trying to remember, but can't: How aware were we of Doc in 1983? We all followed Strawberry's ascent through the farm system, but Gooden got here so quickly I can't remember when we first saw him coming.
  19. FYI, I've found that the minor league stats on BaseballAmerica.com are much more complete than those on minorleaguebaseball.com. Not that the numbers themselves are inaccurate, but the MiLB site hasn't always been listing all of the players on each team.
  20. How do you pronounce his name? Does it rhyme with "spoons" or "buns"?
  21. I'm finding that I, and my son, are definitely in the minority regarding this film. Just about everyone else I encounter has nothing but praise for Wall-E. For whatever reason, this movie just didn't push my button. Maybe it was the sparse dialog. Maybe I just can't connect to a robot lead character. Maybe they were trying too hard to make me like that pathetic little robot. (That last reason is why I didn't click with The Fox and the Hound, It seemed to me that they were telling me to care about the lead characters instead of showing me why I should. Everyone else sees The Fox and the Hound as adorable and heartbreaking, but it left me entirely cold. I could see some good in Wall-E, a clever premise, a few good scenes, and great animation. But I totally despised The Fox and the Hound.)
  22. Cars was okay. (I have no opinion on Larry one way or the other.) So was Ratatouille. They haven't had a movie that I really enjoyed since The Incredibles. Wall-E had its moments, but they were too few and far between. This is a movie I'll never sit through again. I went with my wife, my two kids, and my daughter's friend. My wife thought it was cute. My son, 11, was as bored as I was. My daughter, 7, liked it. Her friend, 9, said it was the "longest movie I ever saw." This is the first Pixar movie that failed to be better than The Bee Movie.
  23. I think it was a dud. For the first time, Pixar has struck out.
