  1. On Mets Hot Stove last night, they mentioned two Boras clients who did sign a contract that extended into the free agent years. Carlos Gonzalez was one, in 2011; I'm forgetting who the other guy was, but it was also in 2011. (It was a pitcher, I think.) So it can happen. If Matt Harvey really wants to stay, he can direct Boras to talk to the Mets. It's certainly a once-in-a-blue-moon kind of thing, but it's not impossible.
  2. Maybe he can join a bowling league!
  3. It's nice that he's saying that, but I'll believe it when I see it.
  4. She definitely looks like she's had a lot of fun in her life. I bet there's a lot that she can teach Wilmer, if he's willing to learn.

  6. For Wilmer's consideration: Danai Gurira. She's only 5'7", but that should be close enough. Dark hair, although she wears it very short. Single, as far as I can tell. (No relationship info on her Wikipedia page.) At 36 she's a bit older than Wilmer. He'll have to decide if he's okay with that. In real life she seems to have a sense of humor. (She's not really Michonne.)
  7. Isn't he going to be in Arizona?
  8. Every time he came into a game I was surprised at how skinny he was. For some reason, my mind was never able to hold an image of what he looked like on the mound.
  9. You're just trying to get on the back page of the New York tabloids so that you can vote for yourself in next year's contest.
  10. Ken Rosenthal reports Tyler Clippard to Arizona for two years, $12.25 million.
  11. So what number does Warthen get? He's become such a fixture with the Mets that I'd be tempted to give him Rube Walker's 54.
  12. Those kinds of photo ops sometimes go horribly wrong. You won't see me posing with Milani Beaudrealt and a tiger any time soon!
  13. This picture is even cooler!
  14. I never understood why that was the norm. Even as far back as the early 70's, why didn't Veterans Stadium, Riverfront, Three Rivers, etc. have all-dirt infields? Did the teams actually want to encourage those zingy artificial turf base hits?
  15. I hear they're working on "Have a Drink With Bill Cosby Night".
  16. Good point. The whole going-to-the-game-in-costume thing is something I've never quite understood.
  17. In an earlier episode, Jake mentioned how once Mr. Met came to his birthday party and did number 2 in his bathroom.
  18. Adam Rubin wrote: Team officials have informed right-hander Zack Wheeler that the club is now targeting July 1 for his first major league action since the elbow procedure. Mets eyeing July 1 for Zack Wheeler's return
  19. How about they wear these uniforms? According to Wikipedia, the team colors of the 19th Century New York Mets were teal, black, and white.
  20. Aesthetically, I don't really care for those uniforms, but they sure do bring back great memories. It will be kind of nice to see, once in a while, David Wright and Jacob deGrom and all the others in those uniforms. (I seem to think I've seen David Wright in the "piped" uniform before. I guess they've used them for a throwback once or twice in the past?)
  21. I had to look it up too. From popsugar.com In case you need a refresher or simply don't know, the phrase is a euphemism for hooking up. If you still don't get it, look ahead to see how people are using it online. Soon enough, you too will start asking someone to watch Netflix and chill — if you haven't already.
