  1. He also questions the moon landing!

Is it too far outside the box to consider Conforto in center and Cespedes in left? I know that either way you have one outfielder playing out of position, but maybe Conforto is better at adapting to center than Cespedes is. Spring training would have been a good time to try to find out.

Outside of that, and rubs/marinades/smoking, well, any difference between America's Batman and Superman of fowl-- the supermarket kind-- is in your MIND, man. They're all bred for size/white meat, not taste. I agree. Dark meat has flavor, but white meat really is just something to be flavored by other ingredients.
  4. In other words, signing with the Mets didn't inspire Moises Alou to pee on his hands.
  5. So Matt Reynolds is the designated guy-who-observes-Mets-Royals games.

But if you want to be Big Chief IDon'tWannaTryTheNewStuff but still want to treat yourself, really, Torta Neza truck in the neighborhood, just across the Grand Central off Roosevelt-- Mexican torts the size of your head!-- is the God's honest (go for the carnitas). I'm hardly the kind of person who doesn't like to try new stuff. (Anyone else here ever eat a guinea pig?) If I went to Citi Field eight times a year I'd have Mama's the first time and seven other things each subsequent time. But I only tend to go once a year, so as it turns out, I usually get that turkey-and-mozzarella hero. I think there were two seasons when I went to Citi Field twice, and on my second visits I got Shake Shack once and Blue Smoke the other time. It's strange that I seem to have to defend my fondness for a particular sandwich. Isn't taste supposed to be subjective? And by the way, I think turkey is tastier than chicken. (THERE! I SAID IT! HAH!)
  7. Put me down for 93-69, N.L. East Champs. The playoffs are, in many ways, a crapshoot, so I might as well tilt towards optimism and say they'll win the World Series.
  8. To each his own. I think it's a great sandwich, with the marinated mushrooms, the gravy, and the roasted red peppers.
  9. Is Mama's of Corona still going to be there? Their turkey-and-mozzarella heroes are one of two reasons I go to Citi Field. (The other is, of course, to see the Mets play.)
  10. Is that that song from the Ice movie?
  11. I'm glad I haven't been paying attention!
  12. Philip Humber has retired.

Still doesn't clear up the air of mystery surrounding this whole thing. This is all very strange. (And that strangeness doesn't even include FK's revelation that Adam Rubin has a vagina.) It's nice to hear that it's not serious, but I won't really believe that until Harvey is back on the mound again. I can't help but remember how Ike Davis was day-to-day in May 2011 but we never saw him again that season.
  14. Hopefully they'll win 11 straight in April!

  17. I just watched that clip. Good grief! I'm glad this only happened in a spring training game, but wow. It was nice to hear Keith and Ron again. (I don't watch spring training games, so this is the first time I've heard their voices since they were doing the pre-game shows in SNY during the World Series.) Who was that in the booth with them? I didn't recognize the voice.
  18. I wouldn't be too surprised if, one way or another, Wilmer had at least 350 plate appearances. I don't think he'll be at all marginalized.
  19. At this point I have no plans. I expect I'll be making the trip to see a weekend game in May or June. I tend to get to an average of one Mets home game per year, and sometimes I catch a road game. (2014 was a big year for me, by recent standards. One game at Citi Field, and four Mets road games, two in Pittsburgh and two in Seattle.)
  20. "Progressive Field?" I didn't realize that it's no longer Jacobs Field. Oh well. At least it once had a non-corporate name, so fans can opt to call it by a name other than one from a paid sponsor.
  21. Oh yeah, I definitely had that Seaver book. I think I had one for Willie Mays, too, although I can't remember the title. And I also ordered a Joe Namath book, during a brief period when I thought it might be possible that I'd like football as much as I did baseball, but that never really worked out.
  22. I'm getting a sense of deja vu all over again. Didn't you report this once? And didn't I fix it? Either way, I'll take a look. Thanks!
  23. I remember ordering this book. I probably still have it somewhere. I have some old boxes in my basement that have moved with me through the years and haven't been opened in decades.
  24. I knew that Bonds had the all-time record, but I couldn't have told you that the number was 763. It doesn't even look familiar to me. It certainly doesn't have the magic that 714 and then 755 once had.
  25. And I think they'd want a politically stable country. They'd be rightfully reluctant to put a team in Havana when there's no telling what will happen after the Castros die off. Will things get better? Or worse? There could be a lot of turbulence ahead.
