    Of the Five Aces, Matz is the one I'm most skeptical of.

    Going in to yesterday's game, Terry expressed apprehension about Matz's performance. I don't remember the exact quote, but anytime someone expresses something other than optimism and confidence in himself or his teammates, it kind of raises a red flag.

    I saw some speculation that it may have been one of the things pilfered by Charlie Samuels. I don't know how likely or true that is, but I'd think that if it was stolen property whoever it is who's selling it wouldn't have the right to do so.

    Donate it to whom, though? The Mets museum in Citi Field? Cooperstown? Or the 9/11 museum in Manhattan? I'd pick the 9/11 museum. It will stand out more there. In Cooperstown it would be just one of may shirts, caps, jerseys, gloves, and pairs of shoes.

    That's a pretty bad ERA for Fernandez. But it's a hell of a lot better than Steven Matz's!

    I've made it so that the pitchers' rows display in pink, so they'll be easier to spot. (That was a quick and easy change.) I may eventually get around to reordering the rows, but it's not currently in my plans. The voting form is intended to be used alongside a box score, not in place of one.

    So far I guess it's still "secret". I may some day do something to promote it but have not yet done so. Zvon said something about posting a link on his blog. I have no objections to anything like that. I do see some unfamiliar aliases among the voters but my assumption is that it's one of us being playful.

    Many of these guys are quite obscure, but not Brandon Nimmo. He was a first-round draft pick and someone whose arrival has been anticipated for a while.

    No news yet on Mrs. deGrom, I assume. Jacob has said that he'll leave mid-game if he gets the word, but he won't come in off the mound if the news comes during the top of an inning.
