  1. Wow, thanks for remembering! That card goes back a long long time!
  2. This thread has managed to make me realize that the Mets have only won two World Series games in the last thirty years.
  3. Maybe they'll ask him about the double switch.
  4. It wasn't a save, it was a win. Syndergaard was the starting pitcher in the game that the Mets won.
  5. I can see that Zvon didn't take French in high school.
  6. I don't know what everyone else is saying, but my opinion is he definitely deserves to be honored by the Yankees. I'd put David Wright in the Mets Hall and retire his number, but I wouldn't put him in Cooperstown either.
  7. Definitely. Is anyone really questioning that?
  8. Does he have to give it up? President Trump will still be executive producing the Celebrity Apprentice. Why should a political job get in the way of your television responsibilities?
  9. More votes have been submitted since I bumped this thread, but the tie persists. Anyone else care to cast a vote? If we're still tied tomorrow morning, a tiebreaker thread will be posted.
  10. Winner of Round 1.2.8 SIGH OF RELIEF Newsday, June 22, 2016. Bartolo Colon leaves the game with an injury after facing only one batter, but Hansel Robles and the Mets pen lead the Mets to a 2-1 win over the Royals. Winner of Round 1.2.7 FROM MEEK TO MIGHTY New York Daily News, June 16, 2016. The day after the Daily News had MEEK THE METS on the back page, the Mets explode for an 11-2 win over Pittsburgh.
  11. I'm quite satisfied at this point. There's definitely more to come, but I think the Mets have a good team and I expect that they'll contend in 2017.
  12. How did Olga and Woody get along?
  13. Caleb Smith is a state park on Long Island.
  14. Reports are that the Orioles have told Jose Bautista that they won't make him an offer because their fans don't like him.
  15. Does the AAA phase mean that the drafted player has to stay on the AAA roster all season or get offered back to the original club?
  16. I'm not sure what it means to be "kicked in the boeheim".
  17. Winner of Round 1.1.6 BLADDER UP! New York Daily News, April 3, 2016. It's Opening Day in Kansas City and Matt Harvey (and his bladder) are set to take the mound. Tiebreaker winner of Round 1.1.7 HAMMERS & THOR Newsday, April 19, 2016. Four Mets homers help Noah Syndergaard to a 5-2 win in Philadelphia.
  18. I suppose it's better than looking like Tommy Pickles.
  19. Gary Cohen's day will come.
  20. Fate has ordained that the two Mike Piazza covers that won Round One face off immediately in Round Two. Because of this, all of Piazza's eggs will soon be in one basket, but which basket? It's time to decide!
  21. Winner of Round 1.1.1 THAT'S TERRIFIC! New York Daily News, January 7, 2016. Mike Piazza will be joining Tom Seaver in the Hall of Fame. Winner of Round 1.1.2 AMAZIN' OFFSEASON Newsday, January 26, 2016. Mets fans are enthusiastic about the return of Yoenis Cespdes and the retirement of Mike Piazza's number.
  22. Bumping this thread to see if there are any votes out there that would break this tie. If not, a tiebreaker thread will be posted on Saturday morning.
  23. The New York Post has really stumbled out of the gate in this year's TCD. The Post only won four of the first 25 first-round polls, but has recently made up some lost ground with three winning covers in a row: The Post's chances of winning this competition do look fairly grim. One of their second-round entries, WORLD SERIOUS, is currently trailing in poll 2.1.2 At the moment, things are looking pretty good for the Daily News to once again have the winning cover, based on the number of first-round winners. But things can change. Sometimes it's possible to win even with a "narrow path to victory".
  24. I'll give it a try: Berra, Torre, Randolph, Stengel, Stottlemyer.
  25. I thought they retired Jeter's number 20 years ago.
