  1. Lately having taken buyouts from the Snooze: Bob Raissman, Anthony McCarron, Michael O'Keefe and old friend Andy "Tracksuit" Martino. Martino still an MLB Insider for SNY. I was wondering about that. On Met Hot Stove, David Lennon was introduced as being from Newsday, but Andy Martino was introduced with no affiliation.
  2. And if that's not enough, we'll throw in Tim Tebow.
  3. HAH! Yesterday I didn't know who Chris Sale was and today I found myself desperately wanting him to not go to the Nationals! Now I can go ahead and forget about him until/unless the Mets play the Red Sox in the World Series.
  4. Winner of Round 1.1.3 WORLD SERIOUS New York Post, February 17, 2016. Jacob deGrom expects the Mets to win the World Series this year. Winner of Round 1.1.8 METS IN A LANDSLIDE New York Daily News, April 20, 2016. The Mets homer six times in an 11-1 win in Philadelphia.
  5. I agree. I think Robles is part of the solution. There's no reason to trade a guy who meets the criteria of what you're looking for. Jim Duquette (or maybe it was Andy Martino) said that yes, the Mets were talking to the Orioles, but they talk to just about every team, and this deal for Brick Block does not look like something that's actually going to happen.
  6. Andy Martino did report that the Mets were talking to Baltimore about Jay Bruce. Maybe it was Bruce-for-Brach?
  7. The name makes me think he might be Joey Tribbiani's cousin.
  8. I think that they've ruled out giving him a long-term contract, and they want to see if they can get anything back for him in a trade, rather than let him walk away through free agency.
  9. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: Again, if a team had a good-not-great ML-ready OF prospect, why on EARTH would they trade him for decline-phase, possibly-not-overall-good-anymore Jay Bruce instead of just playing/PT-ing him? I wasn't thinking someone major-league ready. I was thinking of an outfielder who might be ready in 2018 instead.
  10. Has anyone been following the recent news about Last Tango in Paris ? I haven't seen the movie, so I'm not familiar with the scene in question, but from my understanding Marlon Brando raped (or otherwise sexually assaulted) an actress on camera. They didn't tell her what was going to be done to her because they wanted her reaction to be genuine.
  11. I don't care about the fluff, but I like the rumors.
  12. Yes, except that the market is a bit different in December than it is in late July. The Reds may have had fewer teams that were looking to take on a high-salary veteran at that point in the season when teams are falling into the categories of "buyers" and "sellers". But on the other hand, in July the subset teams that are buyers may be more desperate, so the Reds may have had more leverage. It's hard to say for sure.

  14. Second-round voting begins with an epic battle between a pig and a urinal!
  15. Winner of Round 1.1.5 YA GOTTA RELIEVE! New York Daily News, March 30, 2016. His "bladder woes" behind him, Matt Harvey looks forward to opening the season. Winner of Round 1.1.4 WHAT A HAM! New York Daily News, March 1, 2016. Yoenis Cespedes has purchased a champion pig.
  16. I too would like them to get more than a 7th-inning reliever for Bruce. Maybe a reliever and a talented young outfielder. If, as I expect, Granderson sticks around for 2017, they'll still need a replacement for him in 2018. Lagares and Nimmo could be the guy for that, but having someone else in the mix would be worthwhile.
  17. I'd put Bobby Valentine in. And I think Terry Collins (although I'm not a fan of his) has already earned his spot. Sure, neither one of them won a World Series, but both won National League championships, and with only five such championships in a 55-year history, those pennants are worthy accomplishments. David Wright, as said above, is a shoo-in. And his 5 should be retired too, Hall of Fame or not. (And the "not" is just about certain.) Jose Reyes' claim is complicated by the domestic abuse. I don't know how that will influence things. Beltran and Alfonzo: Yes. Rube Walker: Yes! And I'm hoping that over the next four years, Yoenis Cespedes makes a strong claim for himself.
  18. Andy Martino says the Mets have been discussing Bruce with the Blue Jays, Tigers, and Orioles.
  19. That LET'S GET IT ON! cover is weird, but I kind of like it for some reason. Are they implying that Mr. Met's wife seduced Yoenis into staying? And if the two of them are in bed together, where are their legs?
