There's a hospital in Texas that's firing people who refuse to get vaccinated. I'm pretty certain that Luis Rojas can't force his players to get vaccinated. And the MLB Players Association would have something to say about the matter as well. It's a can of worms that they're clearly reluctant to open. But regarding the topic at hand, is Luis Rojas a good manager, it can be very hard to say. We see the in-game moves (which I often disagree with) and the media relations (which I don't really care about unless it becomes a distraction that affects the on-field results) but we don't see the behind-the-scenes stuff. Has Rojas done anything tangible to coax the Replace-Mets to do as well as they did? Or was he lucky? I can't say either way. Regarding Manager of the Year, that award often seems to go to the manager of the team that's done better than expected. If Rojas wins the division with a injury-ridden team, he'll have a good shot, I guess.
Well, the Mets have won 10 of Jacob's 14 starts this year, and 8 of 12 last year, so the trend of losing his starts hasn't been as much of a thing recently. In both of deGrom's Cy Young seasons (2018 and 2019) the Mets were 14-18 in his starts.
The thing that I had totally forgotten is that there were no digital photos in 1986. It's been so long since I've dealt with "film" that it had completely slipped my mind. I'm used to being able to see the photo immediately after it's been taken. But the photos of Mookie's grounder had to go to a darkroom, film had to be converted to negative and then printed. The earlier photos of Gary Carter and his bubble gum, while less compelling, were ready when the edition went to press.

I agree. He was a terrific Met, especially in 2016, but he wouldn't be better than Villar or Guillorme. Maybe he'd be better than Peraza, but that's not where the Mets most need to upgrade.

I was at Shea that night and I knew how special that grounder was, but here we have four covers, and none of them include a photo of Mookie and Buckner. (Maybe the Post got it right? I don't have access to their covers from October 1986.)

My nine are five players, two managers, one broadcaster, and one coach. (And the players include Orosco, as mentioned above, and Reyes and Beltran, who I agree are problematic. I would nominate them, but not sure I would induct them.)
