  3. There were some stories a few years ago that portrayed him as a nightmare boss. There's probably a discussion of this buried somewhere in our archives.

  6. We all know that there will no longer be a Game 163 in the regular season to break a tie for a playoff berth. This was mentioned in an article I read this morning about the Giants running up the score in a blowout game against the Padres. Apparently, the number of runs scored is one of the tiebreakers, so the Giants felt justified in breaking the "unwritten rule". I don't think I was aware of this. So I tried finding some information about exactly what the tiebreaker rules are. I found plenty of articles saying that they exist, but nothing that provided a full specific list. Does anyone know of a site that provides this information? I couldn't even find it on MLB.com.
  7. And who's going to give Tylor Megill the bad news?

  16. Me too. He was undoubtedly the Yennsiest player the Mets have ever had.

  20. TBD is actually going to be TJM (Tylor J. Megill) according to the latest reports.
  21. I think working with Lorn Brown in 1982 put Ralph Kiner into a kind of coma, and bringing in McCarver (and short-term CPF member Steve Zabriskie) the next year brought him back to life. He made watching the Mets a lot more fun, and I think Ralph legitimately enjoyed working with him.
  22. I'm going to think about five per team, which would make it 150. That's too round a number, so I'll say 143.
  23. I don't think he'll be a big leaguer this year, but it would be nice if he could at least make it to Syracuse. I guess he may be promoted to the Mets if both McCann and Nido flop, but I think Nido will at least be able to hold down the job for a while even if McCann continues to disappoint. I wasn't aware until now this Alvarez's nickname is "Troll". How did that come about? Does he like to hang out under bridges and harass billy goats?
  24. I'm hoping to see Baty in Flushing this year, so I'll be a bit disappointed if he spends much time at Binghamton.
